Accepting her award, Eva Echo said: “As an activist nobody ever expects to go into it winning anything. We just do it because we’re passionate, and I do it for those who don’t have a voice, who don’t have a platform, who can’t tell their story, who can’t be heard, who can’t be here today.”

The Trans in the City Gala 2022 – sponsored by BP – was the awards’ fifth year. It was also live-streamed online and can still be watched on their YouTube.
