#DALEYPOP Dominion: Adam Lambert, Becky Hill, Eminem, Louis III, RAYE & Natasha Hamilton rule summer 2024

Music has been embedded in my life ever since I was in the womb, my Mum and Dad basically raised me on music, especially POP music! I grew up listening to Madonna, Mariah Carey, Kylie Minogue, Spice Girls, Britney Spears and even AQUA and I’ve always been obsessed with Eurovison! I love sharing my favourite songs and album every month with the world from Scene HQ!

Feel free to check out my socials here 🙂

RAYE – Genesis.

After making history at The BRIT Awards in March with not one, not two, not three, not four, not five but six wins, the most in a single year by any artist, including the first-ever female Songwriter of the Year, RAYE has dropped a 7-minute masterpiece!

RAYE said “There is a Nina Simone quote, ‘It is an artist’s duty to reflect the times’. This quote is everything to me and I believe the best way I can try to do this is through my art and my music,” and “There is so much darkness and pain in this world we live in, and I wanted to create something both as deeply personal and as raw as I could find myself to be about my own mind and the world I see around me. The song is a 7-minute piece that I have crafted and scrutinised over the last year and a half, experimenting with different genres and sonic expressions, beneath all the layers and the lyrics, the underlying message is ‘Let There Be Light’. It is a prayer and a plea and a cry for help and I really hope this song will be able to bring some hope, the way this music does for me, to those who need it most.” <3

Eminem – Houdini

Guess who’s back? Back again?

Eminem obvs, with Houdini, and fun fact: Houdini is produced by Eminem himself and features a sample and interpolation of Steve Miller Band’s 1982 hit, Abracadabra (oh that was 2 fun facts soz). Before he dropped it, Eminem teased the bop on social media in a FaceTime with David Blaine – the clip ended with the magician eating a wine glass (lol) and Em declaring, “Well, for my last trick, I’m gonna make my career disappear.” Omg I hope this doesn’t mean this is his last ever album?! Surely not.

The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) will be Eminem’s 12th album and his first album since 2020’s Music to Be Murdered By and I can’t wait, we’ve not got a release date yet though but it’s coming out in the summer so hopefully any day now!

YES YES & Louis III – Rollercoaster

Singer and song writer Louis III said he wrote Rollercoaster originally for Jason Derulo and it does sounds like a Jason Derulo song actually, but, I know I’m obsessed with Eurovision but hear me out, this would be a perfect bop for Eurovision too I reckon! Rollercoaster is a vibrant dancey summery track that blends elements of dance and pop.

Working with Eetu Rantakokko and Tino Lainisalo aka YES YES, released under Soave Records, this song invites listeners to hop on an emotional ride with its pulsating beats and catchy melodies. The track opens with a lively beat that immediately sets the tone. The synths and percussion create an infectious rhythm, perfect for the dance floor.

Louis III deliver smooth vocals that blend seamlessly with the instrumental. The build-up gradually intensifies, leading to an exhilarating drop. It’s impossible not to move to the infectious grooooooooove.

Natasha Hamilton – Edge Of Us

OMG this is a comeback that we didn’t know we needed! After a 16 year break, Natasha Hamilton from platinum selling Atomic Kitten has dropped her solo debut Edge of Us and her voice sounds so good-it really does. I’m kinda obsessed.

Natasha’s powerful vocals resonate as an anthem of resilience, encouraging listeners to find their inner strength and make bold choices. She sings about overcoming tough times and celebrating the courage to say enough is enough, and basically dump your partner if you’re not being treated how you should be treated!

Natasha said: “Edge of Us marks a thrilling homage to the torturous feelings that haunt you when it comes to the end of a relationship. It delves into the depths of all emotions and feelings, yet ultimately celebrates the courage to say “enough” and walk away from what no longer aligns with you. This song resonates as a powerful anthem of resilience, inspiring people to embrace their inner strength and make bold, transformative choices.” YASSS, we’ve all been there and sometimes we just need a push.

Edge of Us is an iconic step for Tash, and it’s great to see her smashing it as a soloist!

Adam LambertCVNTY

International superstar and LGBTQ+ trailblazer Adam Lambert has entered his horny era and I’ll be honest, I’ve been waiting for this since the For Your Entertainment days. CVNTY is part of Adam’s upcoming EP titled AFTERS which embraces modern queer culture with pulsating beats and cheeky lyrics. I love the word cheeky btw.

Previous released tracks Lube and Wet Dream, as well as CVNTY, are all perfect for the dance floor. Adam said “Creating AFTERS has been such a liberating experience as I chose to craft an EP of house music that’s unapologetically queer and sex positive. I throw many house parties and my aim was to create a soundtrack inspired by wild nights, giving a voice to our communities’ hedonistic desires and exploits. Feeling more confident than ever, I wanted to get shamelessly raw and real with the listener. AFTERS is meant to make you move, sweat, fantasise and connect!” Ooh lala.

With a career marked by groundbreaking performances and an unwavering dedication to LGBTQ+ advocacy, Adam continues to push the boundaries of what it means to be a queer artist in today’s music industry and I’ll be honest with you huns, I’ve always been and will forever be a Glambert, hbu?

Confidence Man – I CAN’T LOSE YOU

London-based Aussie electro-pop band Confidence Man are so being slept on IMPO, I Can’t Lose You is the lead banger for their upcoming album 3AM (LA LA LA). This track is a high-octane explosion that throws you headfirst into the world of the band: infectious energy, shameless pop hooks, and a healthy dose of 90s rave nostalgia-such a vibe!

If you didn’t know, the band is fronted by Sugar Bones (aka Aidan Moore) and Janet Planet (aka Grace Stephenson). They are backed by masked producers Clarence McGuffie (aka Sam Hales) and Reggie Goodchild (aka Lewis Stephenson).

In a press release, Sugar Bones explains the album’s title: “It’s 3am, it’s never not 3am, and we party all the time.” Janet Planet adds: “We pretty much wrote every single song when we were wrecked. We’d get blasted and stay up till 9am coming up with music, but we noticed that 3am was the hottest time for when we were on it and the best ideas were coming out.”

ALBUM OF THE MONTH: Becky Hill – Believe Me Now?

Becky Hill or Boppy Hill as me and my boyfriend call her hehehe has dropped her sophomore album and it’s literally bop after bop (hence Boppy Hill).

Becky’s delving deeper into dance music now YAY, honestly this album is my gym workout album right now so thanks Becks! Following more commercial radio hits such as Remember with David Guetta.

Becky said “When we did Remember, the idea was to be as overly saturated on radio as possible, to get people to link the dots on who I was and what music I did. We definitely did that and it was a great move commercially,” she said. “But I felt like I’d become a bit of a radio commodity.”

For this era Becky said she wanted to try and get “some cool points back”, an idea that prompted the drum and bass banger Disconnect with Chase & Status. Becky said “It’s not that I don’t like my own music”, “But I’m very immersed in dance culture and I wanted to have a new body of work that didn’t isolate the commercial by any means but fitted a little better into the dance world. The new album is still great pop songs – I can’t write anything other than pop music – but it’s teamed up with a weightier, purer production and I can’t wait to see what people think of it.”

Becky recalled speaking to Polydor president Ben Mortimer and telling him that she wanted to go more dancey on the production with this record. “I said to him, ‘I’m always gonna make commercial music but I just want it to be a little bit cooler and less try-hard and a lot more heads-y,’” she said. “I want to be an artist. This is my artist era and I hope it’s as successful as my chart era.”

Becks is super lucky to have such a great relationship with her label, where she signed in 2017, following a short stint as an independent act after parting ways with Parlophone in 2014. “They’re amazing because they see how scared I am and they try to reassure me that they’re not gonna leave me, at least not any time soon anyway,” and “The whole relationship has really been lovely because they just see that I want to sell loads of records for them and for me. It’s been a bit of a journey with this album and it’s been lovely that I’ve had the label behind me.”

“I think it’s quite notorious that dance albums don’t do much in terms of sales and people not really giving a shit,” she reasoned. “I’d like to buck that trend, I’d like it to be the dance album that brings it back home for dance music.”

“I’m a hard motherfucker, I am such a bad bitch,” she declared. “I have worked my fucking arse off and I’m still here 12 years later to make a second record when a lot of people thought I was going to fall by the wayside. I’m completely unstoppable and I’m completely unbreakable and this is just the beginning.”

My favourite tracks are, well this is easy, all of them! I do really love True Colours though, a collaboration with Self Esteem‘s Rebecca Taylor. It tackles the sensitive topic of sexual assault, but with a defiant and empowering spirit and it’s still dancey and fun too. This ability to balance raw emotions with danceable grooves really is a hallmark of the album.

I love Darkest Hour too, Outside Of Love, Never Be Alone (with Sonny Fodera), Multiply, Swim, Man Of My Dreams, Linger (loveeeee this one actually, it makes me wanna go hard on the treadmill-not in that way-well maybe!), Lonely Again, Side Effects (with Lewis Thompson), Back Around, Keep Holding On, oh and I have to mention One Track Mind with drag artist RILEASA-OMG. This track slaps, the whole album slaps but this one really slaps and tbh, I love One Track Mind too and Disconnect (with Chase & Status) and Right Here.

This album just goes offfffff and is 10 out of 10 for bangers!

Independent artist FORD releases summer bop “Infatuation”😏💭

Here at Scene HQ, we’re passionate about championing independent artists and Newcastle Upon Tyne based independent singer and songwriter FORD has just dropped a summer bop called Infatuation, seamlessly blending elements of pop, dance, and R&B.

FORD said “Infatuation is all about that person you lock eyes with and you see them all the time you know you both want each other and it’s pure infatuation!  They even creep into your dreams at night!” So he wrote a song about it. Who’s it about? Well that’s for him to know and you to find out….

Lyrically, Infatuation explores the intoxicating feeling of being consumed by someone, a whirlwind of emotions that blurs reason and logic and resonate with anyone who has experienced the heady rush of newfound attraction.

The production is polished, with lush synths and subtle electronic flourishes. FORD’s voice remains the focal point, delivering vulnerability and sensuality in equal measure. The chorus, with its infectious hook, is bound to stay with you long after the song ends.

FORD is releasing his debut EP later this year on all music streaming platforms too so make sure to follow him on all of his socials and support him on his journey here: TikTok Facebook Instagram X (Twitter) YouTube

#DALEYPOP x From ‘Europapa’ to ‘Chromatica’, Summer 2024 here we come!

Joost – Europapa

Joost Klein made Eurovision history this year, becoming the first act ever to be disqualified after reaching the Grand Final, just hours before the show began, which I was gutted about because this song has been living rent-free in my head (and it was one of the favourites too to win)!

Joost would’ve represented the Netherlands with Europapa which is basically a song reflecting on his personal journey, including the profound loss of his parents at a young age and him wanting to pay tribute to them. Joost said “Europapa is about an orphan who travels throughout Europe (and beyond) to find himself and tell his story. At first, people don’t recognise him, but he goes on seizing any opportunity he gets to let himself be seen. Europapa is a tribute to my father. When bringing me up, he passed on to me an expansive view of the world”.

Europapa is produced by Teun de Kruif (Tantu Beats), with a special contribution from DJ Paul Elstak, one of the founders of happy hardcore. Joost wrote the lyrics himself with input from his good friends Donnie and Tim Haars.

Loreen – Forever

Queen Loreen is back with new music and Forever is a vocal atmospheric trance BOP! I adore the futuristic vibes and her vocals just transcend.

Loreen said “In the first chapter of the story, which is Tattoo, you meet this entity – she’s male, she’s female, she’s everything,” says Loreen. “She comes from the earth, from the dust, and it’s very spiritual.” and “And now in the second chapter, Forever, there is an awakening. It’s about a moment where you’ve gone through all the earth and dust – you’ve gone through life – and you can see things clearly. You’re leaving all your illusions behind and you’re free.” Loreen really is on another level and she’s going on tour, click HERE for tickets-I’ve got my tickets already!

Billie Eilish – LUNCH

Wowowowow Katy Perry walked so Billie Eilish could run!

Billie has dropped her third studio album HIT ME HARD AND SOFT and lead single LUNCH which is such a queer anthem. Billie said “I wrote some of it before even doing anything with a girl, and then wrote the rest after. I’ve been in love with girls for my whole life, but I just didn’t understand until, last year, I realized I wanted my face in a vagina.” oh my.

Vanessa WilliamsLegs (Keep Dancing)

Wilhelmina Slater oops I mean Vanessa Williams, the legendary star of stage, screen, and the music scene (ooooh that rhymed) is casually making a comeback with new music at 61 years old, her last song was in 2009-15 years ago so this is wayyyy overdue.

Nessa said “What a joy it is to be making new music behind the mike again with old friends,” and “There’s a certain comfort in creating new works in the studio while reminiscing about how so many years in this business have brought successes, excitement, and lasting memories. Always moving forward is what drives me. Every challenge is exciting. And more new music to share with my fans is the fuel that lights my fire.”

Apparently she’s putting the final touches on her first non-seasonal album too and will be released later this year-excited is an understatement.

Silvester Belt – Luktelk

I’ve had so many faves this year in Eurovision and this is another one of my faves, Silvester Belt‘s Luktelk. Silvester made history too by being Lithuania’s first openly out LGBTQ+ artist to perform at Eurovision oh and gay marriage is still illegal in Lithuania-cray cray.

Anyway back to the music! Luktelk is a bop but the lyrics probably don’t mean what you’d imagine. Silvester said “It sounds like a fun song, but it has this depressive side to it,” and the “The song is about being stuck in the limbo between two stages — of being alive and just existing. Sometimes in life you are stuck in this situation.” and “When we get stuck in our everyday tasks that repeat everyday, we can’t tell anymore whether we are in a dream, or in another dimension. It’s about generally not being happy, and only existing on the surface and it isn’t working anymore… [but] at the end of the day, we will wake up tomorrow and will still have to dance.”.

Eiffel 65 & Loredana Bertè – BESTIALE

Italian music legend and icon Loredana Berté (she’s a huge deal in Italy) has joined forces with Eiffel 65 (yep-I’m blue da ba dee da ba di) on new single BESTIALE. Combining Eiffel 65’s glistening pop production with Loredana’s powerful biting vocals, BESTIALE draws on each distinctive artist’s skill set to craft a unique, yet intoxicating production.

I bet this song will be blasting everywhere in Italy all summer and I’ll bring Italy to Brighton by blasting this song during every BBQ/house party I attend!

ALBUM OF THE MONTH: Lady Gaga – Chromatica

Lady Gaga‘s Chromatica era was everything we needed and more especially during the peak of the COVID pandemic, and now she’s finally dropped the highly anticipated concert film which follows Gaga during the Los Angeles stop of her 2022 Chromatica Ball Tour, which included both her biggest hits and new songs from her 2020 album Chromatica. I can’t believe lock down and Chromatica was released 4 years ago now!

Gaga being Gaga at the premiere of the Gaga Chromatica Ball film in LA

The Chromatica Ball Tour was Mother Monster’s first all-stadium tour and I regret not attending but I’m so grateful for the concert film (even though we can’t actually watch it anywhere in the UK yet but Gaga said we will soon so sit tight little monsters)! Check out the official trailer in a bit to tide you over.

Oh and more good news, Gaga said she’s “in the studio every single day. I have written so many songs, I’ve been producing so many songs, and it’s nothing like anything that I’ve ever made before. I love to break genre and I love to explore music. There’s something really beautiful about knowing that you will be loved no matter what you do”. Omg it’s nothing like anything that she’s ever made before hey?!

Back to Chromatica-this was Gaga’s sixth studio album and it personally got me through lockdown (and a breakup eeeeep). The album features collabs with Ariana Grande, Elton John and Blackpink and is executive produced by BloodPop® and….Gaga.

I still listen to Chromatica religiously and NEED to get it on vinyl still actually!

When Chromatica dropped, Gaga said ““If you’re listening to this album and you’re suffering in any type of way, just know that that suffering within itself is a sign of your humanity and you are not broken. You are connected to the whole world and we are one giant body. We are one full entity,” and “the whole you is having a whole human experience and there might be parts of your life that feel completely shallow or robotic or ancillary and unimportant, and that’s okay, but that suffering is a sign that you’re real and it’s a way to ground yourself.”

My favourite tracks are Sine From Above (with Elton John, so should’ve been a single with an epic music video IMPO), Alice, 911, Plastic Doll, Sour Candy (with Blackpink), Replay, Rain On Me (with Ariana Grande), Fun Tonight, Free Woman, 1000 Doves oh and I even love the Chromatica I, Chromatica II and Chromatica III interludes because they’re so theatrical-I remember hearing them for the first time imagining Gaga using these on tour so I hope she does in the film-but yeah I love the whole album apart from only one song that I always skip (sorry Stupid Love).

Also, after all this time, Gaga was finally asked about a follow-up/continuation to her 2010 Telephone duet with Beyoncé (at the end of the iconic video it said “To be continued”!) and Gaga said “Whenever Beyoncé calls, I’d like to pick up the phone,” basically hinting for Bey to get in touch and that she’s up for a part two omg!

#DALEYPOP: New music from Pet Shop Boys, Sabrina Carpenter, Coulthard, Orville Peck, Chappell Roan and more😍

Coulthard – climax.

New artist Jordan Coulthard has dropped his first ever original track called climax. and tbh he 7+1=ate. Jordan, who’s using only his surname Coulthard as his artist name said “Lyrically I’ve kept it it’s an eyes wide shut kind of thing, it’s your interpretation of it. The lyrics discuss the anticipation of waiting for your significant other coming home. It’s very much like ‘this is what mood I’m in, that anticipation of when you get home’, the listener can fill in the rest.” basically it’s a risque song and I’m here for it!

Based in Manchester and living with his partner Daniel Brocklebank (Billy Mayhew in Coronation Street), Jordan has been recording music at their home. Jordan said “We’ve got a home studio, because Dan does voice overs there, so everything I’ve done is from my own home so there’s something quite organic in that.”

London Grammar – House

One of my favourite bands are back! Hannah Reid, Dot Major and Dan Rothman aka London Grammar have released sublime single House from their 4th upcoming album, The Greatest Love.

I just love Hannah’s voice, it always calms me the F down! Hannah said “House is about drawing boundaries around yourself. When I hit my thirties, my mindset shifted, and I no longer felt like a victim of anything – it all felt within my power. I thought, making music should be fun, and we’re gonna make that happen.”

Camila Cabello, Playboi Carti – I LUV IT

Camila Cabello has entered her hyperpop blonde era which just makes me want to bleach my hair for the summer but I don’t want hair that feels like straw again-basic gay boy problems.

I LUV IT features rapper Playboi Carti and was written by Camila herself and created alongside executive producer El Guincho (who worked with the one and only Billie Eilish) and co-producer Jasper Harris.

Camila said: “Certain things in our human realm do make me feel like I’m in outer space, and the very rare few times where I’ve had incredible chemistry with someone is one of them.  Part of that cocktail is also the emotional drama between you and that person, and the chaos and butterflies and nerves and passion.  It’s unsustainable and not peaceful and exhausting, but also, I LUV IT.” WE LUV WE LUV WE LUV ITTTT too at Scene HQ!

PerrieForget About Us

Former Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards has released her highly anticipated debut solo single Forget About Us and I LUV IT I LUV IT I LUV ITTTT (sorry I still have Camila in my head) and it’s giving summer vibes and Kelly Clarkson vibes too actually which obviously is a compliment.

Perrie said “Relationships have been a huge part of my life, and they’ve made me who I am now. I think it’s a nice sentiment to be honest about, and it’s super relatable.” true that.

Orville Peck, Willie Nelson – Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond Of Each Other

Country music is left, right and center right now after Beyoncé’s fabulous Cowboy CarterOrville Peck said “I think people are realizing that country music is more than just country music culture.” and “There’s a lot of people who call themselves country music fans but they associate country music with kind of a lifestyle and that is usually not very accepting or welcoming unfortunately. But the truth of the matter is country music as an actual genre is incredibly diverse. It has always been that way.” and “There are Black, queer, Latin people, you name it country artists that have contributed to the genre in huge ways, instrumentally, vocally lyrically. It is a very diverse genre,”.

The masked singer (although he’s showing more of his face now-take it off Orville! Of course I am referring to the mask) has announced his first duets album called Stampede Vol.1 which includes this delightful cover of Ned Sublette’s 1981 song Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Font Of Each Other, with country legend Willie Nelson.

Orville gushed over Willie saying “I think that the fact that Willie stands next to the entire LGBTQIA+ community by doing this song just shows what an amazing person he is, what a legend he is… It’s a win for all of us because that’s true allyship. Someone who’s completely unafraid to be right there next to us, there’s no vagueness involved.” I’m not crying you’re crying.

Kaleen – We Will Rave

Omg it’s officially Eurovision month so happy Eurovision month to all of those who celebrate!

I’ve got so many faves but Austria is my current fave. It’s been 10 years since Conchita Wurst won the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 for Austria, and Kaleen could make it happen again. Kaleen was chosen by the Austrian broadcaster ORF to represent her country.

Kaleen released her debut album, Stripping Feelings last year which is really good so I recommend checking it out and she has a lonnnng history as a dancer, check out the official We Will Rave music video below if you don’t believe me. Ballet, commercial, tap, jazz, latin, ballroom — you name it, Kaleen will dance it. Whatever else she brings to the Eurovision stage, we can expect strong moves.

Eurovision will take place in Malmö in Sweden on Tuesday 7th May (First Semi-Final-next week!), Thursday 9th May (Second Semi-Final next week too yay) and then Saturday 11th May is the grand finale omg I can’t wait. Come on Olly Alexander! (or Kaleen).

Sabrina Carpenter – Espresso

US singer and actor Sabrina Carpenter is finally getting her way overdue flowers after Espresso has become her commercial breakthrough hit and it’s on it’s way to reach number 1 on the official singles charts this Friday-Taylor Swift is right behind her though and could over take last minute and take the top spot for the second week in a row with Fortnight (featuring Post Malone).

Oh oh and fun fact: Sabrina opened for Taylor on her The Eras Tour too so hopefully Taylor will be proud! Whatever happens, Espresso is a bop and Sabrina is pop’s next best thing I reckon.

Check out the official music video above which was directed by iconic and renowned GRAMMY winning music video director Dave Meyers (who worked with Ariana Grande, Bad Bunny and Harry Styles). According to a press release, Espresso gives fans a taste what’s to come from the songstress as more new music is imminent, yayyyy!

Chappell Roan – Good Luck, Babe!

Queer hero Chappell Roan unveils her new single Good Luck, Babe! and this electrifying track transcends the ordinary with a blend of nostalgic 80’s synth-pop and balladier vocals. With raw vulnerability, Chappell bares her emotions, belting out an empowering anthem that explores leaving behind a romantic relationship and exploring authentic love and self-acceptance.

Chappell said “I needed to write a song about a common situationship within queer relationships — where someone is struggling with coming to terms with themselves. It’s a song about wishing well to someone who is avoidant of their true feelings”. Relatable!

Chappell Roan is teaming up with PLUS1 to make a positive impact. For every ticket sold, $1 will be donated to For The Gworls, supporting black transgender individuals with essentials like rent, surgeries, and medical assistance. Additionally, for the UK leg of the tour, Kayleigh (her real name) has partnered with PLUS1, ensuring that £1 per ticket goes to supporting Kaleidoscope Trust and their work fighting for the human rights of LGBTI+ people across the Commonwealth and beyond. We love a charitable queen! Established in 2011, Kaleidoscope Trust is a UK-based charity focused on advocating for the human rights of LGBTI+ individuals worldwide. These collaborations reflect Chappell Roan’s commitment to social responsibility, using the power of music to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.

Chappell Roan is ready to take over the world, watch this space!

ALBUM OF THE MONTH: Pet Shop Boys – Nonetheless

40 years in the music industry (wowowowowowow) and the most successful UK duo of all time, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe aka Pet Shop Boys have dropped their 15th studio album, Nonetheless and said “We’re very excited to release this new album. Its 10 tracks are the strongest indicators of where we are today. Like much of our music it’s very reflective. It was great to work with James Ford (mostly known for his production work with Jessie Ware, Kylie Minogue, Florence + The Machine, Arctic Monkeys and Gorillaz), who we think has brought new elements to our music. Our demos are sometimes quite complicated, and James has dared to make us a bit more minimal at times – but also, the string arrangements are very beautiful. Some of the record is quite heart-breaking, but we hope a lot of it is also uplifting. It’s a record we’re very proud of.”

The boys also spoke about the creative process around the record: “We wanted this album to be a celebration of the unique and diverse emotions that make us human. From the more dance-orientated tracks to the raw poignancy of the introspective ballads, with their beautiful string arrangements, each track tells a story and contributes to the overall narrative of the album.”

Notably energised and driven by the huge resurgence spawned by their last trilogy of studio albums and the ongoing success of their Dreamworld: The Greatest Hits Live tour, nonetheless is the sound of a group at a new peak of their remarkably consistent creative power.

I’m kinda obsessed with this album and have been streaming it every day since it’s been released, it’s great for the gym and it’s so cohesive and I love the story telling, something the PSB are known for!

My favourite tracks are Loneliness, such a good sad gay bop (hawt video too), Dancing star (which is inspired by the story of ballet dancer Rudolf Nuryev’s 1961 defection from Soviet Russia), Bullet for Narcissus, Love is the law, A new bohhemia, Why Am I Dancing?, New London boy, Feel, and The schlager hit parade. Oh and The secret of happiness-so basically the whole album.

The legendary duo are going on tour, grab your tickets HERE but they’re not coming to Brighton this time, although they were here last year due to phenomenal demand so….manifesting they come back. Pretty please if you read this Neil and Chris!

You will feel a warm tingling sensation, which is a result of the increased blood flow to the area, but this subsides quickly and leaves you with plumper lips within just a few minutes! If you’re sensitive – simply apply a thin layer of lip balm before the serum.

Is it a lip gloss?

Although it looks like and is applied in the same way as a lip gloss, it acts very differently. The Volumising Lip Plumper is a clear serum. Unlike a regular lip gloss, it completely absorbs into the lips leaving them plumper and ready for you to complete your look with your favourite lip colour on top. It’s water based, meaning you don’t get the sticky texture silicon-based lip gloss creates. The finished effect is clear and matte.

Can I use it if I have lip fillers?

You sure can! It’s still effective even if you have lip fillers. It will not react with your current fillers, is completely safe to use. We highly recommend waiting until your filler injection sites have completely healed before use. Always be sure to check with your healthcare professional before using it with your lip fillers.

Is it vegan/cruelty free?

It sure is – the Volumising Lip Plumper contains no animal extracts or animal derived ingredients. We are proud to say that no Plump It! products are tested on animals and are totally cruelty free.

Click HERE to order your lip plumper right now and whilst your there check out some other products too, you might as well treat yourself!

NEO 10Y is manifesting a protopian dimension of peace with new single✌🏻

Genre expansive Nik Thakkar aka NEO 10Y manifests a protopian dimension of peace with intentional and anthemic new opus, CHOOSE LOVE / CRYING IN THE SIMULATION.

Establishing the mood with psychedelic guitar and a heavenly synthscape with astral vocal ad libs and anthemic drums, NEO 10Y opens CHOOSE LOVE / CRYING IN THE SIMULATION with a captivating and boundless vocal as he sings affirmatively, “I choose love, and I choose freedom and I choose possibility, and I choose love and I choose wisdom, and I choose me, yeah I choose me…”

In line with the star’s dynamic nature as an artist and performer, the opus switches up with a dimensional rap verse featuring the hook and alternate title of the track. The critically acclaimed visionary, and often subversive musician and model from London shares the prose, “Going viral all the time with an agenda in my mind, I’m happy crying in the simulation…”

NEO 10Y confesses, “I just want us all to remember that we are the universe and that love is the shortcut to world peace.” and “This is my message and purpose. The words came to me when I was playing guitar and I had been waiting for the right message for the chords that have made me cry so many times.”

With an epic stage presence, having performed at the Roundhouse, and Troxy with pyrotechnics and dancers, as well as shows at subculture and EVITA in LA, art gallery performances, raves and festivals including Secret Garden Party, CHOOSE LOVE is a trippy experience inviting us to open our minds and sonic philosophies.

The middle eight is emotive and awe-inspiring, invoking tears of connection with source. The finale is mesmerising with a multitude of harmonies, psychedelic bells, and a mantra-esque affirmative message of self-love naww.

Check out the official music video below, it’s cinematic and breathtaking filmed in Maldives. In the visual NEO 10Y takes us on a celestial trip, delivering a synchronised and hypnotic performance to the song, with a jungle setting, palm trees, cosmic skies and turquoise water – truly akin to a protopian dimension of peace.

With reference to the visual, NEO 10Y says “The intention behind filming CHOOSE LOVE in the Indian Ocean, on one of the most beautiful places on planet Earth, is so that we can all immerse ourselves in the mindset of a heavenly dimension, or ‘Hiranyaloka’. Once we attain the collective, meditative state of ‘nirvikalpa samadhi’ or enlightenment, the soul and human kind may progress upward to the “illuminated astral planet” of Hiranyaloka.”

CHOOSE LOVE / CRYING IN THE SIMULATION is available to stream now all music streaming platforms!

If you can’t stand the heat of new Shakira then ‘give your heart a break’ with Cazzi Opeia

Cazzi Opeia – Give My Heart A Break

#JUSTICEFORCAZZIOPEIA should be trending worldwide because Cazzi was robbed at Melodifestivalen! (I do like the one that won too though, in fact it’s in this article too because a bop is a bop but stillllllll).

Swedish pop supreme Cazzi Opeia entered Melfest before in 2022 and she was there last year too but not as a competitor, she was there hanging with Loreen (fun fact: Cazzi co-wrote Tattoo) and so I thought this year would be her third time lucky to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö. I think this is her best song yet and she finished second in her heat qualifying for the final where she finished in 4th place which is still fab! I just adore this song, it’s pure pop and deserves your attention.

Marcus & Martinus – Unforgettable

Right so M&M won Melodifestivalen 2024 and are representing Sweden this year! Cazzi (above) was my first choice but this Norwegian duo are unforgettable tbh hehehe and I’m excited to see them perform on the main stage with this banger. Btw they’re kind of a big deal in Norway, they got big when they were only 10 years old when they won the Norwegian show Melodi Grand Prix Junior in 2012. Since then they’ve toured Europe, won a Spellemannprisen (basically a Norwegian Grammy) and in 2022 they won the Swedish version of The Masked Singer.

The boys have released three albums with every one of them going to number 1 in Norway. Oh and they finished in second place in Melodifestivalen last year with the song Air (BOP), just behind Loreen! This song has been streamed 14 million times omg, so yeah, a big deal!

Kate HudsonTalk About Love

Academy Award-nominated actress and now singer-songwriter Kate Hudson has dropped her musical debut omg-I’ve literally been waiting for this since Almost Famous! Kate did say last year that she wanted to go into music but then Almost Famous happened. “I’ve been caught up writing and witnessing life in songs since I was a child. But it always comes down to the moment, and the ability to make sure you can be there for the music. Finally, for me, that time is now.”

“You only have one first single”, “and I wanted it to be something delicious and sexy and all the things that I believe in. I wanted it to be open and seeking, searching to find something powerful. But I also wanted the music to be the rock, the pop, the dance music and even a bit of the alternative records I love. It was a lot to put into one song, but thankfully, I had some wonderful people working with me. And so, here we are!”

Oh and Kate wrote the song alongside her fiancée Danny Fujikawa and Linda Perry (mostly known for her work with 4 Non Blondes) just so you know.

ZAYN – What I Am

The enigmatic Zayn Malik has dropped a new song taken from his upcoming fourth studio album ROOM UNDER THE STAIRS which comes out in May (not long now).

Zayn said “This is my favourite album that I’ve made to date, mainly because it comes from a place of sheer honesty and vulnerability. I wanted each song to feel as if it was just me sitting beside you telling you how I feel, singing directly to you. It’s raw and stripped back and the type of music I always hoped to make.” and “I think just being where I was at that time, staying away from things and living with my own thoughts inspired me to want to write something from that place. I’ve got to put this out as a whole body of work, it’s something for myself, not even just for the world,”

Tbh I think this is Zayn’s best song yet and he’s…. ZLAYING.

L’Impératrice – Me da igual

Omg I’m so glad my friend Will introduced me to L’impératrice because this song is a bop and they have a big catalogue of bops too which I’m still discovering so hey Will and thanks again Will if you’re reading this!

I j’adore French pop! If only I did French at school instead of German, oh well.

L’Impératrice is a group of six musicians: Charles de Boisseguin, the group’s founder (keyboards), Hagni Gwon (keyboards), David Gaugué (bass guitar), Achille Trocellier (electric guitar), Tom Daveau (drums), and Flore Benguigui (vocals), who joined the band in 2015. Me da igual is basically about not being a stereotype and being happy in your own body. I’m always here for an anthem for self-acceptance and celebrating uniqueness especially when it sounds so good and I can dance to it!

Cascada – Ain’t No Mountain High Enough

No need to evacuate the dancefloor, Natalie Horler aka Cascada is back baby!

Cascada’s highly anticipated fifth studio album titled Studio 24 will be released later this year woo, the first album since 2011! Ain’t No Mountain High Enough is the first single (a cover of the Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell classic) and it has an unmistakable Cascada flair.

Georgia – Too Much Too Little

I can never get too much or too little of Georgia‘s music! Georgia brought in Mark Ralph who worked on her Mercury Music Prize-shortlisted second album Seeking Thrills to add extra euphoria-ness to this bop.

Georgia said: “It’s so hard at the moment to try and contemplate a balanced life when so much is going on, in the news, on social media, everywhere. I find it hard to sometimes see what’s reality and what’s fantasy.” FACTS. The lyrics defo resonate with anyone navigating the overwhelming noise of our digital age, sometimes a digital detox is NEEDED people.

The Veronicas – Here To Dance

Jessica and Lisa Origliasso aka The Veronicas are Aussie Y2K icons with nearly two decades in the music industry and have returned with a new single, taken from their brand new album Gothic Summer (such a good album btw). This groovy track introduces a vibrant, funk-driven rhythm that makes you want to get on the dance floor. Jess said “This song is about disengaging from drama, whether online or personal, and remaining unbothered,” and “‘I don’t care who’s watching, I’m just here to dance’ is a metaphor and a directive to go where the love is.” <3

Jess said about the album too that “The whole theme of Gothic Summer is that it’s basically exploring social commentary on what we think is reality versus how we create our reality. It’s a very metaphorical album.” Oh and the twins are performing at Mighty Hoopla in London in June! Click HERE for tickets but they’re nearly sold out.

Jacqline – Effortless

Jacqline made her debut at Melodifestivalen this year and Effortless was written by Cazzi Opeia! Jacqline performed this infectious track effortlessly, check it out below.

POP PERFECTION. She was robbed too after being the favourite to represent Sweden but I reckon she’ll be back next year (I hope).

ALBUM OF THE MONTH:

Nabil Harlow – Cœur élégant

Shakira – Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran

So for the second time now in my silly little pop music column, I couldn’t choose between 2 albums to be my favourite album of the month so I’ve chosen 2, hopefully no is miffed.

My first album that I’ve had on repeat is Cœur élégant (elegant heart in English) by French-Algerian artist Nabil Harlow (mostly known for his work with Balmain Hair Couture). I can’t remember how I discovered his music but it was last year and Hôtel Paris was the first track I heard and I was like bonjour monsieur! Tbh I got Mylène Farmer vibes instantly, in the best way of course because I j’adore Mylène and seeing her for the second time later this year yasssss.

Back to Nabil-he wrote Hôtel Paris almost 20 years ago when he was only 17 and said “There were already the three verses and the chorus. During confinement, I simply added a musical bridge to tell the story of this need for absolute luxury, this endless quest that makes so many people unhappy.”

Whether you’re sipping wine in a Parisian café or gazing at the stars in the Sahara, this album provides the soundtrack, I promise you it’s bloody good so go stream it and thank me later.

Cœur élégant is Nabil’s debut album and hopefully he’ll continue in music because he’s a super talented singer and song writer. Oh and my favourite tracks are obviously Hôtel Paris, and DZ UP and Le garçon du quartier.

Oh and Claudine, C’est pas vrai.

Pour être un homme, Pute Story, Cœur élégant, L’hérétique, A Vava Inouva, and Transymphonie. C’est l’heure annnnnnnnnd J’aurais aimé.

My second album of the month is Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women No Longer Cry) by Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter and international pop star Shakira.

Since 2022, Shakira’s personal life has unfolded like an engrossing telenovela. Her 11-year romance with football player Gerard Piqué ended, and she channelled her emotions and empowerment into this fabulous album.

I just have to say it now, my favourite lyric (probably ever now) is “I work harder than a whore but I fuck less than a priest”. This is my new life motto, thanks Shakira!

“Making this body of work has been an alchemical process. While writing each song I was rebuilding myself. While singing them, my tears transformed into diamonds, and my vulnerability into strength,” and “it’s a conceptual album — but it didn’t happen on purpose. Nobody chooses to go through the kind of life experiencesh that I went through when I was writing and creating this album, you know, life gives you lemons. So what do you do? Make lemonade. So I made songs. But there is a great variety within this album. There’s pop, there’s Afrobeat, there’s reggaeton. There’s some Mexican regionals as well. Rock. But there is a common thread. And that is based off of genuine, authentic life experiences and the process of elaborating those intense emotions and feelings that I’ve been having to deal with during this past couple of years.”

Omg Shakira performed in Times Square in New York this week too after announcing the pop-up show on social media just hours before and it was even live streamed too so we could all watch from around the world (I was watching and she was simply phenomenal-check it out below if you missed it).

Back to the album-Shakira said “This is not a divorce album. It’s an album that gathers many different life experiences, that gathers the transformation of vulnerability into resilience, the empowerment of finding your strength.”

Shakira is a legend and a queen and I love every song on the album especially Puntería with Cardi B, La Fuerte with Bizarrap, Te Felicito with Rauw Alejandro and the iconic Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53 with Bizarrap.

#DALEYPOP X LADSCLUB Q&A and album review🪩

When Brighton based Greg and Ed got married in Las Vegas nearly 10 years ago, they weren’t planning on ever making an album together. But that’s just what they’ve done!

After releasing some home-made demos online last year the pair have spent the last 12 months locked down, working on and perfecting their craft – the result? 10 glittering tracks that glide through all of their own personal favourite music genres – dance, pop, electro, disco – all sprinkled with their signature punk attitude. This could only be LADSCLUB. Make yourself a cup of tea, get comfy, and get to know the lads better with me….

Who are LADSCLUB?/Tell us about yourself and your music.

Ed: I’m Ed and I’m the producer. I’ve actually been making music as a solo artist for over a decade initially doing mash ups and then under my Lee Taub pseudonym. We have been LADSCLUB for a year now, we are an electronic/dance pop duo. Our music is a blend of all of favourite genres and we’ve tried to add that fun element in our work. That was always the mantra from day 1, we need to have fun whilst working and I like to think that comes though in the music.

Greg: Yeah there’s a lot of humour in our work, in the lyrics and even our name is a joke/ metaphor as there’s nothing “laddy” about us, in the traditional sense. I genuinely love our music though, and I’m not ashamed to say our album is my favourite album of all time! I’m obsessed with it! I think it’s great that everyone who has heard it has a different favourite track too – that really shows how eclectic the style is, and how it’s difficult to pigeon-hole us.

Who are your inspirations?

Greg: I’d say for this project we’ve mainly gone back in time to our youth and drawn from 90’s dance and electronic artists like the Pet Shop Boys. Though I’d like to think there’s also a punk spirit that runs though the album too and Peaches has definitley been an influence, especially on the, er, saucier tracks.

Ed: I’m a huge dance music fan and I definitely think 90’s dance was a major influence for me when writing the music for the album.

Who would be your dream collab?

Greg: It’s a dream to collaborate together to be honest! Especially after being married for nearly 10 years. This album is like our child. So much of us has gone into the making of it. However, after self producing this album it would also be cool to work with other producers in the future too – like Stuart Price – one of my idols, who I recently met! Lovely chap.

Ed: working together has been amazing, it’s the collaboration I didn’t know would ever happen but a really great surprise. I have so many people I would love to collaborate with, Frankmusik a huge idol of mine he’s an absolute genuis! I would love to work with Calvin Harris too I reckon he would be a great match for us.

What is your creative process like?

Greg: It can vary but quite often we started with a title! I’d hear a word or phrase and then the next morning wake up with a song in my head. I’d sing it to Ed and he’d come up with a track and then it would just evolve form there really. Sometimes it was really quick but other times we were on like the 13th demo and pulling our hair out. There were tears and tantrums for sure.

Ed: We normally start with a few of Greg’s genius lyrics and I start playing around with some sounds, try and get a loop going and we go from there. I’ve definitely attempted a lot more styles/techniques than ever before on this album it’s really pushed me in a good way.

What are your favourite tracks on the album and why?

Greg: I love the opening track KLÜBLADS, it was one of the first ones we wrote but the last to be finished as we wanted the album to have a really strong opener. I think it’s a work of genius and that is mainly down to Ed’s production. I also have a soft spot for MATINEE as that’s my solo track and I tried to channel one of my idols, Jarvis Cocker, when we recorded the vocal. That song came from nowhere and I just love the way it GOES OFF.

Ed: It’s so hard picking as it keeps changing! Personally I adore HEAVY which is my solo track. I was left to my own devices and came up with it pretty quickly. It has a really fun euro sound and it’s a bit naughty ! Also INIT has to get a mention as it’s such a fun track, it’s the 90’s dance track I’ve always wanted to make. I’m channelling 2 Unlimited for this one.

What do you both get up to in Brighton?

Greg: Well for the last 12 months we’ve been mostly working on this album haha. No one has seen us!

Ed: Yeah we’ve kept a fairly low profile recently but we’re both looking forward to celebrating this album once it’s out.

Dream dinner party guests – dead or alive and doesn’t have to be music.

Greg: Ooh nice question. I’d genuinely like to be transported back to the early 80’s New York art scene and sit at a table with Madonna, Keith Haring, Andy Warhol and Jean Michel Basquiat. Not sure I’d get a word in but would be lovely just to observe and be in the mix with those creative geniuses.

Ed: For me, David Bowie, he was such an icon and I bet he would have been fascinating to talk to. Nick Jonas would be a great guest too, though I would be terrified of meeting someone like that, I tend to start talking complete gibberish when I meet anyone famous😂

Greg: can I actually change my answer to Nick Jonas please?

I’m not sure why Greg wanted to change his answer….

Any live shows coming up/dream gig?

Greg: Well..believe it or not we’ve never played anything live. When the album comes out and if the demand is there we’d love to give it a try. I have ideas for a live show but they would require a budget and we are currently independent so – if anyone out there wants to talk, get in touch! I mean songs like LOVEBOMBED and BIG were totally made with a huge Glastonbury crown in mind so…you never know!

Ed: Glastonbury for sure , that would be EPIC!

ALBUM REVIEW:

LADSCLUB have graced us with their electrifying self-titled debut album. Drawing inspo from legendary acts like Pet Shop Boys and Madonna, Greg and Ed deliver a fresh blend of retro synth-pop and modern dance beats! Let’s dive into the glittering world of LADSCLUB….

The night begins with KLUBLADS (one of my personal faves on the album). This is the boys introducing themselves to you and welcoming you to the party. We then enter the dancefloor for DISCOPRANCING, the 90’s house kick of huge dance anthem INIT is followed by the throbbing electro clash of LOVEBOMBED.

Things get down and dirty as we enter the dark rooms of MATINEE and HEAVY, then we fall in love over a glass of FINEWINE. The lads get punky on the stomping (and hilarious) future anthem BIG, get an Insta-crush with that guy from the ‘gram on COOL and then take it down a notch on the reflective SADCLUB. At this point you are left with no other choice but to hit the repeat button and start the party all over again!

I just love the fusion of retro aesthetics and contemporary beats that invites listeners to embrace their inner disco diva. Whether you’re dancing alone in your room or grooving at Club Revenge, this album pinky promises an exhilarating experience. The album is available to stream right….NOW!
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 out of 5 stars) #DALEYPOP approved!

Queen Bey’s Country Groove, Bat For Lashes’ Melodic Whispers, and Olly Alexander’s Eurovision Dizziness: A #DALEYPOP Symphony!

Olly Alexander (Years & Years) – Dizzy

Olly Alexander aka Years & Years has unveiled his latest bop and if you’ve been sleeping under a rock, Olly has his ticket to Malmö, Sweden to represent the UK for Eurovision 2024 in May!

Dizzy has a synth-y Hi-NRG beat, combined with Olly’s emotive vocals creates an irresistible and exciting energy and it’s just perfect for Eurovision, Olly’s perfect for Eurovision too and a long time fan of the contest himself. Olly said “It goes right back to being a kid and watching the show with my family – ordering pizza and spending all night in front of the TV watching this insane, amazing show. It’s a bit like a spiritual homecoming for me because I love Eurovision so much.”

I reckon Dizzy will be a game-changer for the UK at Eurovision with its catchy hooks and Olly’s star power, this song has the potential to make waves and I’m obsessed with the talking section, very Adam Rickett. Oh and the song was co-written by Olly of course and Danny L Harle, who has produced hits for Dua Lipa, Chic and Charli XCX so this song really does have potential to leave Europe (and Australia) spinning!

The Weeknd with Playboi Carti and Madonna – Popular

Omg The Weeknd, Playboi Carti, and the Queen of Pop aka Madonna dropped this song last summer and I’ve been streaming ever since and waiting for an official music video and now it’s here! Popular is such a bop and it’s a part of the soundtrack for HBO’s series The Idol (which I still need to watch despite the bad reviews eeeep).

The chorus and hook of Popular are super catchy. Abel‘s (The Weeknd) signature vocals blend seamlessly with the beat, creating an infectious rhythm. Madonna adds her flair to the mix and Playboi Carti’s contribution raises eyebrows. His verses feel experimental, I think some listeners might find it intriguing, while others might scratch their heads and maybe hate it! Hate’s a strong word though.

Directed by Cliqua, the music video is a visual feast. The Weeknd performs in an extravagant mansion, exuding confidence. Meanwhile, Madonna dances in an opulent New York penthouse, reminding us why she’s an icon and she looks FABULOUS while doing it. Playboi Carti cruises through the capital in a luxury car, accompanied by a mysterious woman. The video captures the essence of excess and fame.

Also fun fact: Madonna has made chart history again (proving again why she’s the Queen of Pop), Popular entered the official UK top 10 charts making this Madonna’s first new top 10 hit in 15 years. The last time she was in the top 10 was back in 2009 with Celebration which climbed to number 3!

Abel is such a Madonna fan and said “I’ve always wanted to work with her,” and “I’ve always wanted to write and produce a Madonna album… Well, co-produce with her, of course. She’s a visionary and she has such a singular vision. And I just want to come into her world and create a classic Madonna album. That was always my dream. Hopefully this is the appetizer for that.”

Beyoncé – TEXAS HOLD ‘EM

Beyoncé’s latest musical venture takes an unexpected turn as she dives into the world of country music! I’m so excited because after Daddy Issues and her performance with The Chicks I was secretly hoping she’d enter her country era one day and well, now the day is here!

In this left-field move after the house and disco vibes of Renaissance, Beyoncé dropped TEXAS HOLD ‘EM (and 16 CARRIAGES) both from upcoming second instalment of her Renaissance trilogy out this month-yep THIS MONTH, on the 29th!

Queen Bey invites us to a dusty dance floor where banjos twang and line-dancing commands echo. The track exudes a playful energy, punctuated by enthusiastic “woo hoo!” exclamations that might as well be “yee haw!” I personally don’t think Beyoncé’s foray into country music is just a detour or a Grammy-grabbing move, her mum (Tina Knowles) posted on the gram too saying Beyoncé has celebrated cowboy culture since childhood. “We also always understood that it was not just about it belonging to white culture only. In Texas there is a huge black cowboy culture.”

MÉLOVINDreamer

My absolute fave at Vidbir 2024 (the Ukrainian selection for Eurovision) was MÉLOVIN although I enjoyed most of them, Ukraine know how to make decent pop music!

Dreamer is an anthem of self-determination and self-love encourages listeners not to give up on our dreams, even in the face of adversity. In a world where oppression still persists, this message resonates universally. The struggles faced by the global LGBTQ+ community find a voice in this powerful track. The lyrics were apparently inspired by the life and legacy of Ukrainian composer Volodymyr Ivasyuk. Volodymyr Ivasyuk gave his life for Ukrainian music during the Soviet occupation, and serves as a symbol of resilience and progressiveness. Born in 1949, he became a founding father of modern Ukrainian pop music. His struggle to adapt to the oppressive and conservative Soviet society mirrors the broader fight for self-determination. MÉLOVIN’s tribute to Volodymyr Ivasyuk reminds us that dreams can transcend borders and time. As we listen to this anthem against oppression, we’re reminded that hope and courage can change the world, one of the reasons why I love Eurovision and pop music!

Sia and Kylie Minogue – Dance Alone

Omg 2 Aussie queens! Kylie Minogue and Sia have joined forces for an electrifying (my favourite word right now) bop! Released as the second single from Sia’s upcoming 10th studio album Reasonable Woman, this song will ignite dance floors, front rooms and hearts alike. Kylie and Sia’s voices intertwine seamlessly, creating an irresistible energy that beckons you to move.

I reckon Dance Alone will become a dance floor classic, especially at Scene HQ anyway!

Annalisa – Sinceramente

Italian singer-songwriter Annalisa delivers a heartfelt and empowering anthem with Sinceramente (which means Sincerely). Released from her her eighth studio album E poi siamo finiti nel vortice (And then we end up in the vortex), this song showcases Annalisa’s vocal prowess and emotional depth.

Sinceramente combines elements of dance-pop and contemporary balladry=perfect combo! The song opens with a pulsating beat that gradually builds, creating an irresistible groove. The production is super polish polished but raw at the same time allowing the emotions to shine through. Annalisa bares her soul, singing about authenticity, vulnerability, and the desire to be understood without judgement, sì mamma!

In the stun music video (directed by Giulio Rosati) Annalisa plays alter egos from previous videos (Bellissima, Mon amour, and Ragazza sola) which is a slay tbh. The visual narrative mirrors the song’s theme of self-discovery and acceptance. Sinceramente is more than a song; it’s an invitation to be genuine, to express our innermost feelings without fear. With its powerful message and Annalisa’s soulful delivery, this track deserves a place in the hearts of music lovers everywhere in Italy and beyond even if you don’t speak Italian!

Delta Goodrem – Hearts On The Run

Another Aussie pop icon and one of my faves, Delta Goodrem returns with her latest single Hearts on the Run. This 80’s-inspired uptempo banger is a testament to Delta’s versatility and vocal prowess and transports you to the neon-lit dancefloors of the 80’s. With funky guitar licks and infectious beats, the song invites you to groove and you can’t help but smile 🙂

Hearts on the Run has already made waves in the pop world and feels nostalgic and refreshing at the same time. Basically this song will keep your heart racing!

Bat For Lashes – The Dream of Delphi

Bat For Lashes aka Natasha Khan unveils her highly anticipated sixth studio album, The Dream of Delphi out in May! I’m so excited! The first single is the same name as the album title and named after her daughter Delphi and is an evocative and personal journey that weaves vulnerability, motherhood, and celestial musings.

The Dream of Delphi transports listeners to a mystical realm. With twinkling hand-made electronics reminiscent of Delia Derbyshire and Japanese ambient influences, the song creates an otherworldly atmosphere.

Natasha said “This is the manifesto of the album. It’s like a spell being cast. It’s the conjuring, the manifestation, the drawing-down of Delphi from the ether. This is me calling on her soul. It’s about going up into the stars and down into the underworld simultaneously, how celestials and deep guttural sounds can come together, how that reflects the journey I went on. It’s about what happens when you’re stretched physically, mentally, even vaginally! I think it’s just humbled me, too, becoming a mother. It’s made me feel more vulnerable than I’ve ever felt before. But I feel more human, more embodied. I can’t escape life by making beautiful things as much as I did. But there’s sort of a beauty to my mortality now.”

Beyoncé – 16 CARRIAGES

In 16 CARRIAGES Beyoncé reflects on her career journey since her mid-teens. The pedal steel guitar adds a poignant touch, while the song’s grandeur swells to Halo-proportions. As she sings about being “overworked and overwhelmed,” she also acknowledges her artistry and love for creation.

I can’t wait for RENAISSANCE: Act II now omgomgomgomg.

Dula Lipa – Training Season

Dula Peep delivers a sleek and dancefloor-ready track as usual, she never disappoints.

Dua said “I had been on a string of bad dates, and the last one was the final straw,” and “The next morning I arrived to the studio to [cowriters] Caroline and Tobias asking me how it all went and I immediately declared ‘TRAINING SEASON IS OVER,’ and like the best ‘day after’ debriefs with your mates, we had a lot of laughs and it all quickly came together from there.” and “while it is obviously about that feeling when you are just absolutely done telling people…men specifically in this case, how to date you right; it is also about my training season being over and me growing with every experience. I have never felt more confident, clear or empowered. And while it may be that training season is never over for any of us, you start to see the beauty in finding that person to experience it with. You stop looking for the trainees and become more interested in having someone where you are and someone to grow with.” nawww.

Btw this song is a sly, irresistible wink for fans who notice the ABBA references!

ALBUM OF THE MONTH: Paloma Faith – The Glorification of Sadness

British superstar Paloma Faith delivers a raw and emotionally charged sixth album titled The Glorification of Sadness. Drawing from her own experiences, Paloma channels heartbreak, resilience, and unapologetic honesty into this powerful collection.

The Glorification of Sadness is a sonic tapestry that weaves together elements of soul, pop, and rock. Faith’s signature voice, with its rich timbre and emotional depth, takes center stage. The album’s production is both grand and intimate, allowing the lyrics to shine through.

Faith’s songwriting is heartbreakingly honest. On Sweatpants she navigates the complexities of love, ageing, and self-acceptance. The chorus echoes “I am a woman.” This anthem celebrates womanhood, imperfections, and the strength found in vulnerability.

The Glorification of Sadness is Paloma Faith at her most vulnerable and powerful and tbh, it’s her best album yet (IMPO). It’s an album that invites listeners to embrace our own complexities, find solace in shared experiences, and celebrate the beauty of imperfection!

My favourite tracks are God in a Dress, a bold and anthemic declaration of female power, with echoes of Pink and Linda Hamilton, How to Leave a Man, Eat Shit and Die, Bad Woman, I am Enough, and Pressure (feat. Kojey Radical). Oh and Cry on the Dancefloor because it’s simply….A BOP!

Paloma will be stopping by in Brighton on her The Glorification of Sadness Tour btw, at the Brighton Centre on Saturday 29th April for one night only (so happy it’s a Saturday YAY), get TICKETS HERE but they’re almost sold out!
