John Duff, the fearless artist known for pushing boundaries with his lyrics and genre-blending music, has just announced his latest project: an OnlyFans launch one week after the release of his provocative new single and music video, Stick Up. This audacious move reflects Duff’s unapologetic exploration of modern capitalism and society’s complex relationship with integrity and self-worth, with Stick Up offering listeners a gritty look at the lengths people go to survive and thrive in today’s economic climate.
Inspired by a recurring sentiment among artists and workers facing economic strain — “I should just do porn” — Duff explains, “I don’t know anyone in the past four years who hasn’t said those words. They’re usually being cavalier – that they would do anything – as if the perceived immorality of sex work is more compromising than the way said person must behave in a late-stage capitalist landscape. Stick Up is a mirror held up to society, challenging how we perceive morality, integrity, and the compromises people make to be accepted.” He goes on to underscore how the track criticises the moral gymnastics people perform daily, whether in corporate offices, political spaces, or, more candidly, in a strip club.
Stick Up sets its stage in a strip club, alluding to the adage: “Believing the politician cares about you is like believing the stripper likes you.” The song leans into this comparison, portraying everyone as a disgusting player, selling a version of themselves for a chance to get ahead. “Like Cristal Connors’ says in the movie, Showgirls: ‘We take the cash, we cash the check, we show them what they wanna see.’ I personally find that people in sex work have a bit more integrity than most – they acknowledge that they are selling a fantasy. CEOs, billionaires, and gurus cannot always say the same.”
Stick Up marks a departure from Duff’s previous work, including tracks from his Greatest Hits: Deluxe Edition album.
The single takes a raw, spoken-word approach rather than his signature vocal melodies, emphasising lyrical punch over musicality. “I wanted this track to hit differently. It’s the first time I’m not singing. I’m just talking,” he notes.
Fans familiar with Duff’s work on Give a F*ck and Be Your Girl will recognise the biting wit and introspection that has become his trademark, but with a grittier, stripped-back delivery.
In crafting the Stick Up music video, Duff collaborated with an entirely queer team – helmed by Brett Loudermilk and Zain Curtis – marking their debut as music video directors. “I’ve been a fan of their world-building for years,” says Duff.
When Loudermilk and Curtis were asked how they came up with the concept for the Stick Up music video, Curtis said, “As artists, Brett and I are actively creating our own universe. When John gave us the song to listen to, we both saw the need to build a strip club in our fucked up little world. We named it, ‘The Piggy Bank’.”
“It’s amazing to me that people are figuring out that can come to us to make something really fun, really rotten and exactly what people want to see. Our society is so unserious and we’re happy to reflect that in our work. Look into this mirror! It’s you. We’re just showing everyone what’s already there,” added Loudermilk.
Duff adds, “The shoot was magic. No one wanted it to end.” The result is a visual rollercoaster that blends humour, drama, sex, and a bit of the absurd, reflecting the raw themes of Stick Up in both imagery and tone. Adding another layer to the release, Duff has chosen to expand his artistic journey onto OnlyFans, offering his followers a deeper look into his provocative world. “The OnlyFans version of the video includes Showgirls-level explicitness and full-frontal content, making it the most uncensored version of my work to date,” he shares.
OnlyFans subscribers will pay a standard $10 monthly fee, and can expect more than just music videos. “I’m a perverted exhibitionist absurdist, and this platform allows me to share content that goes beyond the restrictions of mainstream platforms. Plus, music alone has paid me negative tens of thousands. OnlyFans gives me the chance to profit directly from my creativity.”
Duff’s experiences in the music industry resonate throughout Stick Up an anthem for anyone who has ever had to hustle to stay true to themselves. “I’ve only spent money pursuing my art,” Duff acknowledges, “all of us artists are told to project an image that isn’t real. Half of these celebrities are BROKE. Integrity has slowed my climb, but I can’t compromise who I am,” Duff explains.
As Duff’s artistry continues to evolve, he says he feels more authentic and fearless than ever. His music has shifted from the optimistic, international gay pop persona of his early career to a more complex exploration of identity and societal criticism. His work has become a platform for honest expression, and with Stick Up Duff has created a poignant commentary on the pressures of late-stage capitalism and the performative nature of modern life. It’s an invitation for listeners to confront their own hustles, to question the roles they play in society, and to recognise that, as Duff puts it, “we’re all whores, darling. All is forgiven. Get that cheque.”
Music has been embedded in my life ever since I was in the womb, my Mum and Dad basically raised me on music, especially POP music! I grew up listening to Madonna, Mariah Carey, Kylie Minogue, Spice Girls, Britney Spears and even AQUA and I’ve always been obsessed with Eurovison! Nao – Wildflowers
Critically acclaimed artist Nao is back with her captivating new single Wildflowers whichwas recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. Wildflowers is a radiant and heartfelt exploration of love, growth, and vulnerability and offers the first glimpse into her eagerly anticipated fourth studio album Jupiterwhich is set to be released next year!
When asked about her latest single, Nao explained:“A Wildflower symbolizes falling in love—it’s wild, carefree, and you want it to last forever. But life and time have other plans. Wildflowersinvites listeners to explore the highs and lows of love while embracing vulnerability.”
Collaborating with celebrated producers Coffee and Detonate, Wildflowers emerged effortlessly from a deep conversation about love, the passage of time, and coming of age in your 30’s. Its bold, carefree energy is wrapped into a breezy, soulful anthem, a crucial piece of Jupiter’ssonic puzzle. The track was created during a memorable and emotional period for Nao, as she was heavily pregnant at the time. Her forthcoming album Jupiter will explore themes of growth, abundance, and profound self-discovery, weaving together a tapestry of introspection and expansive creativity.
The visual and creative world surrounding Jupiter has been shot by frequent collaborator Lillie Eiger (Arlo Parks, Florence Welch etc), with creative direction from SpaceBroth. Get ready for a fresh wave of innovation and artistry as she continues to redefine the boundaries of music.
Nemo – Eurostar
The first non-binary winner of Eurovision and reigning champion Nemo has dropped their first “post-victory” single, Eurostar and it’s simply a bop. The official music video comes with several Eurovision 2024 participant cameo’s too including Luna (from Poland), Windows95Man (from Finland), SilvesterBelt (from Lithuania), BambieThug (from Ireland) and JerryHeil (from Ukraine). I loved them all in Eurovision btw especially Windows95Man and Silver Belt!
Eurostar is described as a reflection on “party love and the unique joy of living life in the moment, without compromise“, Nemo’s single has the champion singing about a trip to London and their desire for dancing, partying, “like no one before”.
“Eurostar feels like a little love letter to London. I moved to London five weeks ago, and I’ve found myself exploring different parts of the city—its history, culture, and amazing music,” said Nemo.
“I took the Eurostar from Paris to London back in June, and I suddenly felt inspired by how close these two places are, both of which mean a lot to me. I found a lot of inspiration in taking the train, realising it’s a great metaphor for arriving in London, in a way, but also for the speed of life lately. The Eurostar is incredibly fast at times, and my life has felt similarly nonstop and fast-paced. I think you can hear that energy reflected in the song as well.”.
Stevie Nicks – The Lighthouse
The legendary Stevie Nicks has returned to music yay and using her platform to inspire real change. The Lighthouse is basically about reinvigorating the fight for reproductive healthcare in the USA. Go Stevie!
Stevie said that she “wrote this song a few months after Roe v. Wade was overturned” in June 2022. “It seemed like overnight, people were saying, ‘What can we, as a collective force, do about this…,’” and “For me, it was to write a song.”
“I have often said to myself, ‘This may be the most important thing I ever do,’” and “To stand up for the women of the United States and their daughters and granddaughters ~ and the men that love them. This is an anthem.” It really is an anthem, a vital anthem for our times.
BANKS – I Hate Your Ex-Girlfriend (feat. Doechii)
BANKS is one of my ultimate faves so I’m so glad she’s back! Doechii is becoming one of my new faves too so both of them together is just *chef’s kiss*.
BANKS said “This song was born from a story I told in the studio. A partners ex-girlfriend sent an ‘I miss u’ text with a very suggestive photo of herself attached while I was with him. She knew we were together and had been for a while. We were all cracking up at the absurdity and what started off as us messing around, turned into the anthem of I Hate Your Ex-Girlfriend,”.
Lady Gaga – Disease
Mother Monster has officially began her LG7 era with new dark pop just in time for spooky season too. Disease is a reminder of why Lady Gaga is one of the most exciting and influential pop stars of her generation and follows on from Harlequin, a companion album to her new film Joker: Folie à Deux which I still need to see (despite the poo reviews).
Disease evokes the raw energy of The Fame Monster and Born This Way and came out just in time for Halloween (Gaga know’s what she’s doing) and is written and produced by the singer alongside Andrew Watt and Cirkut, with Gaga’s fiancé Michael Polansky also listed as a co-writer.
Gaga posted about Disease on her socials saying “I think a lot about the relationship I have with my own inner demons. It’s never been easy for me to face how I get seduced by chaos and turmoil. It makes me feel claustrophobic. Disease is about facing that fear, facing myself and my inner darkness, and realizing that sometimes I can’t win or escape the parts of myself that scare me. That I can try and run from them but they are still part of me and I can run and run but eventually I’ll meet that part of myself again, even if only for a moment.” and “Dancing, morphing, running, purging. Again and again, back with myself. This integration is ultimately beautiful to me because it’s mine and I’ve learned to handle it. I am the conductor of my own symphony. I am every actor in the plays that are my art and my life. No matter how scary the question, the answers are inside of me. Essential, inextricable parts of what makes me me. I save myself by keeping going. I am the whole me, I am strong, and I am up for the challenge. Happy Halloween.”
Scarlet Pleasure – Discoteca
I’ve recently returned from a city break in Copenhagen with my bestie, and I kept hearing Danish trio Scarlet Pleasure everywhere. I think I first heard them in an Espresso House and had to ask Google who was playing and now I’m obsessed with Danish pop music. Scarlet Pleasure were formed in 2013 and are made up of childhood friends, Alexander Malone (on bass), Emil Goll (on vocals and guitar), and Joachim Dencker on drums. The trio share a passion for old school soul and American RnB, and blend it with a delicious modern pop sound.
Discoteca is a summery bop tbh but it’ll be great to blast if you’re going away for some winter sun!
Isabel LaRosa – Pretty Boy
Alt-pop sensation Isabel LaRosa is back with Pretty Boy which is an introduction to her next chapter of new music coming soon and features Isabel’s signature dark-pop ethereality as she expresses a blend of admiration and….infatuation.
Before its release, the track already had over 24K creates, with 1.2K average creations daily on TikTok-omg. Isabel LaRosa is one to watch!
Swedish House Mafia & Alicia Keys – Finally
I know I’m late to the party (always am) but Finally came out in Septemberrrrr (finally after teasing the track for nearly two years) and I’m obsessed. Swedish House Mafia and Alicia Keys joined forces and Alicia’s powerful vocals complement the music perfectly, adding a layer of emotion and depth to the song.
The collab marks the first time the two acts have come together on record and it’s actually a rework of Kings Of Tomorrow‘s 2000 house classic of the same name. It’s such a banger though, perfect for the gym or pre drinkles.
ALBUM OF THE MONTH: Confidence Man – 3AM (LA LA LA)
Australian powerhouse party starters Confidence Man are celebrating their big move to London the only way they know how: flying over the city in a helicopter naked! The visual for lead single I CAN’T LOSE YOU – a sugary shot of euphoria from their third (and best IMPO) studio release 3AM (LA LA LA) – sees the pop-dance delinquents setting out their stall from a great height: they want to whisk you away from the dull wasteland of modern mediocrity, pump up the volume and, with their typical unseriousness, crashland on the dancefloor.
This is album three, Confidence Man 3.0, locked and loaded, and they’re building a rave new world, where the outfits are daringly small, the hairstyles outrageously large, and it’s always, always night.
“It’s a fucked up sort of world,” says Sugar Bones of the new Confidence Man universe they’ve created. But most importantly: “It’s 3am, it’s never not 3am, and we party all the time.”
Since they high-kicked into view with their 2018 breakthrough album, Confidence Man have won hearts and lost minds around the world with their arch pop-dance confections and cute choreo – but, like, in a hot way, a really hot way. On 3AM (LA LA LA), Janet Planet, her floppy-haired foil Sugar Bones and instrumentalists Clarence McGuffie and Reggie Goodchild are delving deeper into UK rave sounds of the 90’s and 2000’s, from trippy acid techno and trance to breakbeat and big beat. It’s darker, sexier and more surreal.
Following the huge acclaim of their last album, 2022’s TILT, Confidence Man’s next club-focused chapter began with the release of 2023’s On & On (Again), co-produced with Daniel Avery. They’ve since released underground hits with DJ Seinfeld (Now U Do) and DJ Boring (Forever 2 (Crush Mix), as well as a remix album (Confidence Man Club Classics Vol 1.). At first, the band “wanted to dehumanise pop music and make it over the top and ridiculous again,” says Planet. But now they’re bringing those pop sensibilities to classic UK rave. “We wanted to revisit those sounds and then add pop hooks and vocals to them,” she continues. “I feel like that hasn’t really been done before, besides The Prodigy.”
3AM (LA LA LA) references what you might call the flow state Confidence Man found when writing and recording the album at Pony Studios in east London, with sessions that would go on all night. Vocals were improvised in the moment, and often captured in the first take. “We pretty much wrote every single song when we were wrecked,” says Planet. “We’d get blasted and stay up till 9am coming up with music, but we noticed that 3am was the hottest time for when we were on it and the best ideas were coming out.”
Keen detectives may also notice the album’s reference to the song 3am Eternal by their heroes, the British acid house group The KLF (the very same KLF who once pulled off one of the most talked-about stunts in UK music history: burning a million quid). That admiration works both ways: The KLF’s elusive Jimmy Cauty has become a Confidence Man fan and has worked on a remix of the album’s closing title track. “I don’t think he’d been to a gig in 25 years and he came to see us at the Roundhouse in London,” says Planet. “He’s been mentoring us a bit ever since.”
While Confidence Man aren’t planning to set fire to any hard-earned cash anytime soon, their new album is definitely full of unexpected twists. A seamless, high-energy mix, 3AM (LA LA LA) blends together an even more varied grab-bag of genres from the 90s and 2000s, masterminded by producer Goodchild. It makes sense that Confidence Man drew on the likes of Groove Armada, Prodigy, Leftfield and Underworld, says Bones, because “all those classic UK rave acts have always been popular in Australia. Prodigy were my fave band growing up when I was in my early teens.” And yet their take on it all is, in typical Confidence Man style, filtered through their own warped lens. “We didn’t know any of the rules,” says Bones. “These sounds make their way into your scene but then everyone repurposes them because no one understands the context,” continues Planet. “No one had ever been to a warehouse rave where we’re from.”
Confidence Man are naughtier, ravier, and ready for lift-off. Standby…

London and Tel Aviv-based artist, Nadav Sivan (not related to Troye Sivan btw) is proud to share the official video, plus a live performance video shot at The Camden Club in London, for his vibey single U So Hot. The track is taken from his debut album Til The Day We Die (which is avaliable to stream now) and has been famously featured on a key fashion catwalk episode of The Kardashians! For a fashion (and Kardashians!) lover like Nadav this was simply the biggest honour that could be bestowed on him.
Nadav is all things at once: a singer, songwriter, producer, performerand is – without question – a star on the rise: think flamboyant, colourful, and absurdly talented with a kind of confident ‘peacock swagger’ a star in waiting should have! His early introduction to music, surprisingly perhaps, came via music therapy. He was partially deaf until the age of four, after which he underwent a major operation to repair his hearing. Following the surgery, his parents bought him a piano, and there was no turning back🥹. He became a top classically trained pianist, playing and competing throughout his childhood and teens.
U So Hot is cool and uber fashion conscious and found its way to being used in a prominent scene in an episode of the Kardashians latest series. This is a track which oooooozes the charming swagger that Nadav is known for and is accompanied by a great video featuring the band with dancers in their eighties, still able make some moves! The video is so noteworthy that it’s being featured and celebrated at several film festivals including Amsterdam Lift Off. When performing the track onstage, Nadav absolutely gets the party started!
U So Hot also celebrates individual allure and charisma beyond conventional standards of beauty and wealth. The song challenges superficial attractions like muscles, luxury brands, and physical attributes, emphasizing that true magnetism comes from authenticity, intellect, and genuine intention. The chorus repeatedly underscores the irresistible appeal of someone who is confident and genuine, hitting the listener “like a shot.” It also highlights inclusivity, stating that gender doesn’t matter when it comes to who can be captivating. This chimes in with Nadav’s deep support for the LGBTQI community of which he is a member.

Gregorian chant may not be the first genre that comes to mind for club-goers, but something extraordinary is about to unfold!
Designed for the cathedral of pulsating dance floors, Gregory Dillon’s Burning Kisses single emerges as an experimental masterpiece, electrifying audiences with its unexpected debut. With throbbing techno synths and a breathy, almost ritualistic refrain, Dillon’s latest single is a transcendent experience—blurring the lines between the sacred and the sensual. This rising luminary in the electronic dance scene, already known for several major-label hits, has clearly been honing his craft, creating a sound that is as enigmatic as it is euphoric.
Gregory said “The chorus of Burning Kisses—‘praise to the damned, if I’m damned, then I’m going to dance’—is my anthem for those moments of liberation. As a gay man who grew up in a Catholic environment, I can’t help but think of the monks who might have also been queer, seeking refuge in their devotion as I sought refuge in mine. And while this project is not an attack on Catholicism, it’s about exploring those contradictions—finding my own place of worship in the clubs, where I can finally celebrate who I am without fear. It’s not about rejecting my past but about embracing who I am now, in all its complexity, and creating something that resonates with others who’ve felt the same tensions between faith, sexuality, and self-expression.”
Hailed by Notion as the “internet sad boy icon of our dreams, ” Dillons genre bending anthems blaze with a cinematic allure shimmering from a collision of electropop, new wave, & post-punk sensibility. His self-produced singles lovely, Plastic Ferrari and Alien Boyfriend surpassed 5M+ streams this year, and he signed to PEN Music Publishing, quickly gaining sync placements on HBO’s The Sex Lives of College Girls, Batwoman, Riverdale, Love Island UK, MTV and Amazon Prime original series The Lake. His foray into dance music has landed him billing as a DJ/Club Performer for sold-out shows in the US and Europe, and featured collaborations with heavy hitters like nowifi on the track Undefined. Now approaching 11 million streams across his catalog, Dillon’s music has been hailed by Music Insider as “a total masterpiece” and featured in “Best New Songs of the Week” by Billboard, Paper, MTV News, V Magazine and 1883 Magazine.
After a life-altering collision carved a fresh ethos into his artistry, Dillon’s personal and musical trajectory now mirrors an unexpected transition back to the isolating streets of suburbia that he initially ran from. Shedding the picture perfect Ken-Doll fantasy of his earlier works, Dillon’s critically acclaimed self-production and conceptual approach is clearly evolved from escapism and nostalgic longing. Now adorning the Suburban ‘Sad Boy’ title, Dillon now channels a defiant, rebellious spirit, injecting listeners with a complex dose of euphoric resilience that BEDFORD & BOWERY described perfectly as “pulsing with a yearning to look backward.”

I love sharing my favourite songs and album every month with the world from Scene HQ!
I randomly discovered Douglas Dare when I went to a Madonna celebration night at the Ironworks Studios in the summer (on Madonna’s birthday too) and Douglas performed a few Madonna covers and his voice was just lush and I was like wow! I checked him out on Spotify and he’s got lots of music plus a newly released album on there called Omni and now he’s dropped a fab new single too.
Douglas said “Originally One Eye Open was written for The Birdsong Project and was an acoustic guitar-led song,” and “When I was writing my new electronic album Omni, Robert at my label said he was curious to hear OEO in a similar vein. I leaned fully into a heavy club sound and I was surprised to hear it worked in this new way. One Eye Open was so heavy that it didn’t make sense to include on the Omni album so we saved it for its own moment.”
I just love the gentle swell of background harmonies, muted synths, and atmospheric textures are carefully layered to create an ethereal, dream-like ambience and Doug’s voice is often trembling on the verge of breaking, communicates a depth of emotion that is both intimate and….unsettling (in the very best way). Thanks Madonna for introducing Douglas Dare to me.
The Chainsmokers and Kim Petras – Don’t Lie
La-la-la, la-la, this song is such an ear worm! And it’s making me miss summer already (even though Autumn is my favourite season but you knowwww).
Don’t Lie is the first single from The Chainsmokers upcoming EP. Andrew and Alex said “Internally this song marks a shift in the way we’ve been making music in the absolute best way. It lead us to rediscovering the process that started all of this back when we were making indie remixes in 2014 hoping they would get some traction on hype machine. Things feel really fucking fun right now. We are excited to share the first piece with you.”
The Weeknd – Dancing In The Flames
Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd is back with Dancing In The Flames taken from his upcoming 6th studio album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, the follow-up to 2022’s Dawn FM and the final part of a trilogy that began with 2020’s After Hours.
This track is a dark, hypnotic journey that blends Abel’s signature brooding R&B with moody electronic undertones complementing his silky yet tortured vocals. New favourite song from Abel unlocked!
FKA twigs – Eusexua
FKA Twigs has dropped her best song yet IMPO but when I first heard Eusexua I was like huh what does that word mean? Although the official music video kinda explains it below….
If you’re still not really sure though don’t worry!
Twigs explained it saying Eusexua is “that feeling of when you’ve been out all night and you lose 7 hours to music, and you look at your phone and you think, “Oh, my gosh, it’s 8:00 in the morning.” And last time you looked, it was 1:00. It’s because you’ve been in a state of eusexua. It’s also if you meet somebody that you really like, and you just kiss all night and you kiss for all hours. You lose time. It’s like your bodies become one and you’re just like an amoeba. And it’s like this kind of meditative, like, amazing physical experience. For me, it’s also the moment before I get a really good idea of pure clarity. Like, when everything moves out the way, everything in your mind is completely blank and your mind is elevated. That’s eusexua and that is the only place I want to be now.”
Hopefully Eusexua will be added to the dictionary! I’d love a word I invented to be added to the dictionary and like Gemma Collins famously said, “I’m a massive fan of the dictionary” too, and Eusexua.
Jeffree Star – Hi, How Are Ya?
If you didn’t know, makeup mogul (and MySpace royalty hehehe) Jeffree Star released his debut (and only) and iconic studio album Beauty Killer in 2009 before he took over the beauty world with makeup line Jeffree Star Cosmetics.
Beauty Killer features a collab with the one and only Nicki Minaj too (before she became the official Queen of Rap) and the album was produced by Lester Mendez who has production/writing credits for Shakira, Nelly Furtado, Jessica Simpson, Enrique Iglesias and more and Jeffree was even signed by Akon so he really was a big deal (still is though) but then in 2013….he quit the music industry.
Last month though, Jeffree announced plans to drop new music (and a makeup collection) 15 years later (OMG) to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Beauty Killer.
Hi, How Are Ya? is a brash, unapologetic anthem. The track is a high-energy fusion of electro-pop and industrial beats delivering a punchy, rebellious vibe that reflects Jeffree’s larger-than-life persona and I hope we don’t have to wait 15 years again for more music! Welcome back Jeffree Lynn.
Linkin Park – Heavy Is the Crown
Linkin Park returned with their first new single in seven years last month, The Emptiness Machine, and it was a commercial success across the globe, charting at number one in Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Latvia, Luxembourg, Portugal, and Switzerland as well as the top 20 in Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Lithuania, Malaysia, Morocco, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Sweden and the UK. I seriously feel like I’m 13 again though, LP’s new music gives me the same energy of old LP music.
The Emptiness Machine was also the group’s first single with new frontwoman Emily Armstrong following the death of their long-time vocalist Chester Bennington in 2017. Some fans aren’t happy about Emily being in the band though.
Mike Shinoda said he’d been meeting Emily from hard rock band Dead Sara and writing music together since 2019 but the “intention wasn’t to start the band up again” and that “She’s not trying to be Chester, she’s not trying to be anybody else.”
Heavy Is the Crown serves as the main theme for Riot Games’ 2024 League of Legends World Championship and again gives pure nostalgic meteora vibes! I used to be a fan, but after hearing this masterpiece, I’m a whole air conditioner!
Tate McRae – It’s Ok I’m Ok
Multi-platinum pop girlie Tate McRae has released her new song It’s ok I’m ok featuring an irresistible chorus alongside the Britney Spears inspired official music video accompanied by a killer dance visual marking a new chapter for the star.
Tate said “I’m so beyond excited to share “It’s ok I’m ok” with the world and this new chapter of my music. This song is a byproduct of reflecting back on past relationships to now and how much I’ve grown and learned from them. It’s a playful take on knowing your worth and the all too relatable feeling of never wanting someone back.”
I reckon we’re going to have to start calling her Ate McRae because she’s constantly eating.
ALBUM OF THE MONTH: Katy Perry – 143
Katy Perry‘s highly anticipated sixth studio album, 143 is finally here!
It really does feel like we’ve waited 84 years but it’s worth the wait. As she approached the project, Katy envisioned a bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expression of love as a through line message. The result is a sexy, fearless, return to form for the multifaceted musician.
Jam packed with the empowering, sexy and provocative pop anthems fans have come to love, 143 is an album with a lot of heart and a lot of BPM.
Ms Perry celebrated the album’s release day by playing a sold-out epic headline show for over 100,000 fans at Rock in Rio in Brazil, her first performance at the Rio de Janeiro festival since 2015 and it was like a full blown concert with slick choreography, outfit changes and fireworks (obvs).
Katy then made a spectacular return to the MTV stage for the first time since 2017. The five-time VMA winner accepted the 2024 Video Vanguard Award (finally) and performed a show-stopping, career-spanning medley of her biggest hits which included the debut television performances of two singles from 143 – I’M HIS, HE’S MINE with a surprise appearance by Doechii, and LIFETIMES.
Shortly thereafter, Katy dropped the official video for I’M HIS, HE’S MINE. Billboard said, “If you’re still wiping the steam off your screen from Katy Perry‘s NSFW debut performance of I’M HIS, HE’S MINE with Doechii during her career-spanning medley at this week’s 2024 VMAs, buckle up because the official video is just as provocative.”
Katy served so hard AGAIN last weekend during another huge performance in Australia for 100,000 AFL fans too headlining the pregame show ahead of the Brisbane Lions vs Sydney Swans. KatyCats, we’ve been fed so well this era already!
With a cumulative 115 billion streams alongside worldwide sales of over 70 million adjusted albums and 143 million tracks, Katy is one of the best-selling musical artists of all time. She’s one of only five recording artists in RIAA history to gain entry to the elite 100 Million Certified Songs club.
143 is such a vibrant celebration of KP’s signature pop sound packed with anthemic choruses and playful production, the album explores themes of love, empowerment, and self-discovery showcasing her knack for crafting catchy and feel-good tracks. While it doesn’t stray too far from her previous work, the album feels polished and full of memorable hooks that keep listeners engaged. Overall, 143 is a fun, polished pop experience that KatyKats will enjoy for lifetimes! I’m still not over Chris Martin covering LIFETIMES btw.
My favourite tracks are ALL THE LOVE (manifesting this to be the next official single), NIRVANA, ARTIFICIAL, GORRRRRGEOUS, CRUSH, I’M HIS HE’S MINE, GIMME GIMME, LIFETIMES, WONDER, TRUTH and WOMAN’SWORLD.
Oh and I set up a silly petition a few years ago to get Katy’s Just Eat bop on all music streaming platforms, feel free to repost and like my tweet about it below and of course sign it too if you got a spare minute! 143 for lifetimes if you do x
🗣️KatyCats! In 2022 I launched a petition to get Katy Perry’s Just Eat bop available on all music streaming platforms, Katy might help make it happen if this petition goes viral?!🙏🏻
