The all-male comedy ballet company Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo (affectionately known as “The Trocks”) have been performing for more than 40 years and return to dance in Canterbury in October.
EACH of the 14 male dancers play both ballerina and their male counterpart. The result is both comedic and remarkable: heavy-bodied males en pointe as swans or angst-ridden Victorian ladies.
The Trocks established in New York with a vision to present an entertaining and playful view of traditional classical ballet. They have now grown to receive world-wide recognition for their sassy yet skilled performances, including a full range of ballet and modern dance repertoire.
The Trocks also reach out to LGBT+ communities through dance, offering awareness and support, while continuing to appear in international AIDS organisations such as DRA (Dancers Responding to AIDS).
Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo is at The Marlowe Theatre on Friday 19 and Saturday, October 20, with performances at 7.30pm. There will be a free, post-show talk on the Friday (booking is required).
