The Write Release will host an evening of entertainment at Amsterdam Bar & Kitchen to raise money for the local HIV charity, The Martin Fisher Foundation.
ALL money raised will go towards supporting the charity’s aims to increase access to HIV testing within the local area and reduce HIV stigma.
Entertainment will include a number of pre-bookable open mic slots, spoken word artists, improv, drag, comedy, and more!
Entry to the event is free with the idea that individuals will donate something to the collection buckets.
There will also be a raffle with some brilliant prizes!
In 2016, Brighton & Hove was given ‘Fast Track City’ status as part of a global initiative and set towards achieving the following goals:
• 90% of people living with HIV (PLHIV) knowing their HIV status
• 90% of PLHIV who know their HIV-positive status on treatment
• 90% of PLHIV on treatment achieving viral suppression
• Zero discrimination and stigma
Through the work of charities such as The Martin Fisher Foundation, Brighton has already reached these targets. However, there is still work to be done. As a city we are now working Towards Zero – zero new HIV infections, zero HIV-related deaths, and zero HIV stigma.
The Martin Fisher Foundation is helping to achieve the aims of Towards Zero through four main areas: challenging stigma, innovations in testing and care, research and education, and public involvement.
