“They are open and honest in their search for love.” Dannii Minogue to play Cupid on new dating series ‘I Kissed A Girl’

Pop icon Dannii Minogue is to return as host of the UK’s first lesbian dating show, I Kissed A Girl, on May 5, which follows the same format of I Kissed a Boy.

Dannii will play Cupid for ten lucky lesbians on the show, which serves up plenty of drama in a stunning Italian Masseria.

Dannii said: “We are so excited to be back and to share the stories of these girls. They are open and honest in their search for love, funny and surprising, so get ready for a whole rollercoaster of emotions. I genuinely laughed and cried watching all the antics in the Masseria.

“While the girls open up to possible love, I think so many viewers will be both educated and entertained. As each day developed, it sparked a lot of heartfelt conversation on and off the set.

“With lots of queer females on the crew, it created an incredible environment that supported the cast and was a joy to be a part of.”

During the show, the girls will begin to forge connections and bonds with each other, with romance blossoming in more than a few places, but in order to test their compatibility, several tests will be undertaken to see how well suited they really are.

Dannii herself openly admits to having been educated by the show, particularly when it came to expanding her vocabulary – something the singer was delighted to master.

Opening up about how much she had learned, Dannii says: ”I was on a learning curve with the boys, but with the girls, I actually needed a glossary of lesbian lingo to decode some of the conversations!

“In the best possible way, their language cuts to the chase – and I was happily catching up. You will know what I mean when you hear fun descriptions like ‘golden retriever’ and ‘black cat’.”

Teasing what fans can expect from the series, Dannii reveals a welcome insight into her own unique role as Cupid, as she says: “In my role as ‘cupid’ I always hope that an attraction sparks with such intensity that it leads to a lasting relationship – but my lips are sealed as to whether that happens this series.

I Kissed a Girl starts on Sunday, May 5 at 9pm on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer
