Production starts on second series of camp comedy series ‘PATTERNS’, starring big names including former rugby hunk Ben Cohen

Graham Robson August 28, 2024

Patterns, a camp anthology comedy series, is to return for a second series, which is being shot across a number of London locations.

Across eight episodes, a revolving cast of 75 actors will be involved, including notable guest stars such as Derek Jacobi, Annette Badland, Olivier-award winning musical performer Maria Friedman, Ryan Sampson and former rugby star Ben Cohen, playing himself, who was also in the first series.

Directed by Rex Glensy and written by Asad Moghal, Patterns is an eight-part camp comedy series with each episode telling its own distinct story all drawing from a different comedic style, such as pantomime, sitcom and slapstick. Originally devised and shot during the pandemic, series one discovered a loyal, enthusiastic online audience. Buoyed by that success, Rex and Asad now embark on a more ambitious second series with top acting talent from stage, film and TV.

Other cast members appearing over the series include Kate Robins, Paul Blackthorne, Cecilia Noble, Sion Alun Davies, Juliana Joel and Bradley Riches.

The stories take place in the same universe so that a minor character in one episode may reappear as the lead in another and vice-versa. The series touches on a range of topical issues including, LGBTQ+ matters, family problems, conspiracy theories, and reality television.

Series one of Patterns aired on Dekkoo and Amazon Prime.
