Cabaret stars, including Alfie Ordinary, Allan Jay, Billie Gold and Davina Sparkle, gear up for this year’s Brighton Alternative Panto – ‘Jack – Stripped Back’

Producer Allan Cardew and stars of Brighton’s cabaret scene are gearing up for this year’s Brighton Alternative Panto: Jack – Stripped Back!, which is at Brighton Ironworks Studios from 28 January – 2 February.

It’s got a starry cast of Brighton resident performers and a few visitors and will blend traditional pantomime production values with a very large dollop of innuendo and plates full of double entendres.

In the starring role of Jack is popular cabaret singer Allan Jay, and he’s teamed up onstage with drag prince Alfie Ordinary as Little Willy (innuendo number one), cabaret royalty Billie Gold, and singing star Jason Lee.

The cast is completed by drag queens Davina Sparkle, Sandra and Mary Golds, and dancers/ensemble players Amber Redman, Luke Lunn, Catherine Jeffries and Rowen Newsome.

Allan said: “The title also refers to the fact that at the Ironworks we don’t have a huge stage space, but we do have a beautiful harp, and a beanstalk that rises.”

It also takes Allan back to his past as Jack was his first panto a handful of decades ago. He added: “The show has old values but without bad language. It’s a traditional romp but naughty and very tongue in cheek, and it’s uniquely written for the performers who are in it”

The script is adapted and directed by Paul Lawrence-Thomas.
