Following the success of Portsmouth Pride last year, organisers have listened to feedback from supporters and created a bigger event in 2016.
Girl band STOOSHE will headline a spectacular line-up of local and national entertainment on Saturday, June 18 on Southsea Common.
Following a Parade through the city centre, organisers promise a fun-filled day on Southsea Common packed with live music, entertainment, rides, stalls and bars.
Pride day will begin with a free Walk With Pride parade which will leave Guildhall Square at noon. The colourful parade will finish on Southsea Common, where Portsmouth Pride will begin at 1pm
Early Bird tickets for Pride on Southsea Common are now on sale at £5. When those have sold out the regular ticket price will be £8. Prices for 5-15 year olds is £4, while children under 5 years old are free but a ticket is still required to gain entry.
Sarah Renda, Chair of the Portsmouth Pride Organising Committee, said: “We wanted to build on the support everyone showed us last year so we have added a cabaret tent, a main stage with professional artists, as well as an acoustic stage to provide something for everyone.”
“This year the free parade will ‘Walk With Pride’ all the way from Guildhall Square to Southsea Common, and everyone is welcome to join in or cheer us on our way.”
STOOSHE famous for their chart hits Love Me, Black Heart, and Waterfalls will be supported by the party group RHYTHM OF THE 90s, who are guaranteed to get Pride people dancing with their explosive selection of 90’s dance and pop.
Meanwhile in the Pride Cabaret Tent, there’ll be an afternoon of camp and colourful entertainment, with comedians, drag acts, Southampton Gay Men’s Choir, and making their debut – the recently formed Rainbow Voices of Portsmouth.
