What does a girl from Yorkshire have in common with the war in Ukraine?
Soraya Vivian, a singer who has made it big performing for super club brands Hed Kandi and Fierce Angel, has recorded the official Kyiv Pride anthem, COLOURS OF LOVE, which will be released on Friday, July 28 via DEEVU Records.
Featuring Soraya’s HAUS OF SORAYA drag singers and dancers, the track’s goal is to show not only much needed love and support, but also to keep up the global awareness of the plight of the community in Ukraine and at the same time raise as much money as possible. All profits from the track will be going directly to Kyiv Pride, who will use the funds to purchase medical supplies, food and help continue to provide shelter for the LGBTQ+ community in Ukraine.
Soraya said: “As an international LGBTQ+ ambassador, I have been very fortunate to perform gigs all around the world, especially in Eastern Europe. I have seen first hand, even before the war started, how the LGBTQ+ community has been treated. This is why I wanted to put together like-minded people who I know can make a difference to record this song, create this video and tell their story. We aim to raise much needed awareness and funds to support the LGBTQ+ community in Ukraine.
“It’s as simple as that; nothing bad is ever going to come from being kind, I just want to do the best I can. I recently had the pleasure to meet Lenny Emson, the executive director of Kyiv Pride, who told me harrowing stories of what is going on back in Kyiv. That meeting only made me even more determined to make as much noise as possible with this track.”
COLOURS OF LOVE, the official Kyiv Pride anthem, will be released Friday, July 28 on all platforms via DEEVU Records.
Soraya Vivian will be performing the track all over the world, including Prides in Manchester, Liverpool, Hull, Sunderland, Lincoln, and many more.
