PREVIEW: Two LGBTQ+ choirs bring Christmas cheer

Brian Butler December 9, 2020

It’s been a tough year for all performers and our Brighton and Hove LGBTQ+ choirs are no exception so good new that two of our chorus groups are able to perform in the run-up to Christmas.

The Rainbow Chorus, directed by Aneesa Chaudhry will give two virtual concerts via YouTube this coming Saturday 12 December – but available afterwards on demand.

If you want to be involved in their singalongs then the times are 11.30 am for a brunch gathering of old and new material , with an emphasis on smaller groups of the choir and its soloists. At 7.30 pm there’s a broader gathering of festive music .

It’s a 2 for 1 deal with tickets at £5.

Both are signed by Marco Nardi and will have subtitles. More info, tickets or full details at rainbowchorus.org.uk

Actually Gay Men’s Chorus, led by Samuel Cousins are giving us a live experience, with two concerts on 18th and 19th December at St Mary’s Church in the heart of Kemptown. “ The Spirit of Christmas will be an hour-long show with no interval. We will be uber Covid-secure with social distancing, sanitising, bubbles and cleaning. We’re excited to perform in front of a real present audience – please come and support us and our chosen charity Sussex Beacon,” Samuel told me.

The concert is being filmed and may be available after the event.
