With possibly one of the best puns in the west end this season a Dragatha Christie Murder-Mystery is now playing on the West End!
Written by Holly Stars, directed by Jesse Jones and with a line up of Drag starts from the world of RuPaul and other Drag glitterati this is a fierce festive offering from the Garrick Theatre.
Starring RuPaul’s Drag Race superstars Courtney Act and Monét X Change, this brand-new comedy is an historic West End first bringing together a full cast of leading drag performers, in a deliciously deadly murder mystery with the camp piled higher than the bodies.
The plot takes us back to 1991 and a gaggle of guests gather on Tuck Island for a soirée like no other. The tension rises as the outrageous guests reveal their suspicious and sordid pasts, and one by one they sashay away, until at the last, nerve-shredding, side-splitting moment the surviving guests find out who-dunnit! This rampant, raucous, ridiculous romp of a murder mystery has gallons of gags, and more twists and turns than a drag queens wig.
There’s some fine polished performances from a range of Drag performers and also in the play is sensational Drag King LoUis CYfer who was profiled by Brian Butler in November, you can read that interview here:
The Garrick Theatre operates strictly under the government COVID-19 guidelines. All bookings in a party must only be from the same household or the legally defined support bubble.
DeathDrop kicked off this week and is running until the 17th January with many matinee shows lined up most weekends, so perfect to fit in with some London Xmas shopping time, and you’ve got to give it to the Kweens for managing to debut a West End show in the middle of a global pandemic. Just the tonic we need this Yuletide season.
Gscene will be along to Review shortly and will feed back soon but you may not want to wait for that as tickets are selling fast.
