London-based queer artist Ray Laurél has dropped their new single and video, RIDE, ahead of their new EP Honey, Undress Me, out November 8 on Two First Names / Polydor Records.
The London-based singer-songwriter’s new single, produced by JONAH, is Ray’s first original release of 2024. Following on from their autumnal 2023 track MY LUV, which explores Laurél’s fear and hesitation around falling in love again, RIDE is comparatively dripping in queer Indietronica, sensual brooding energy, and heavily inspired by the spirit of the wolf.
In Ray’s own words, “RIDE is about the chase. The adrenaline you feel when you’re in the early spring of romance. I’ve been working with the spirit of the wolf a lot recently, and it’s unique connection to the moon. It was a fun way to show the primal element that comes with falling in love.”
Announcing their new EP Honey, Undress Me, Ray says: “This EP is an offering to romance & desire. I’m showing my heart and getting lost in doing so. I wanted to create something that felt intense and intimate at the same time”.
Having only launched in 2022, under much intrigue and mystique, Ray’s track Coconut Perfume currently sits at 14.5 million streams on Spotify, they performed an incredible COLORs session, have played Pitchfork Paris, Somerset House for Charles Jeffery’s LOVERBOY exhibition, recently put on a Gaza fundraiser at The MOTH Club, and features on the soundtrack for BBC’s new drama This Town alongside Self Esteem, Olivia Dean and Celeste.
