28-year-old music artist and actor Demi Lovato, who previously referred to herself as queer, has come out as pansexual, saying: “I’m part of the alphabet mafia and proud.” Appearing on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Lovato confirmed that she identifies as pansexual, adding: “I’m so fluid now, and a part of the reason why I am so fluid is because I was super closeted off.”
The Heart Attack singer explained that she realised her sexuality after seeing Selma Blair and Sarah Michelle Gellar kiss in Cruel Intentions, but “felt a lot of shame because growing up in Texas as a Christian, that’s very frowned upon.” She said: “Any attraction that I ever had toward a female at a young age, I shut it down before I even let myself process what I was feeling.”
Lovato also said she wants to adopt children: “I also don’t know if I’m going to end up with a guy, so I can’t really see myself even getting pregnant”. Her fans have shared messages of support for her, with one referring to Lovato as a “pansexual queen”. Another tweeted: “Love @ddlovato you’re so inspiring and I have been such a huge fan forever. Wishing you all the best thoughts.”
