Brighton DJ raises over £1000 in 24-hour DJ
Toby Lawrence has raised £1,063 (and counting) in a #Dance4venues campaign raising money for Music Venues Trust (MVT) to support venues struggling due to the Coronavirus outbreak. You can still donate here:
Taking place at Revenge, an LGBTQ+ nightclub in Brighton, Toby broadcast his DJ set live on Facebook for 24 continuous hours in his self-isolation DJ station, with genres ranging from disco to guilty pleasure pop to underground sounds.
“I’m over the moon with the amount raised. I’ve always wanted to do a 24-hour set and this seemed like the perfect time to try lift everyone’s spirits. I loved all 1,440 minutes of it, but I’m very much ready to sleep now!”
This event was also designed to unite people in isolation around the world. As well as protecting the public’s physical health, we cannot underestimate the impact COVID-19 is already having on people’s mental health and wellbeing. With many vulnerable and lonely individuals being encouraged – or forced – to remain in their homes, #dance4venues aimed to bring everyone together through the universal power of music and dance.
