A carnival of music sails into Brighton Dome

A menagerie of lions, elephants and kangaroos will be let loose in Brighton Dome on Sunday, January 10 with cabaret star Miss Jason firmly holding the reins.

London Gay Symphony Orchestra (LGSO) will be bringing these beasts and many others to life, in a performance of Saint-Saëns’ grand zoological fantasy, Carnival Of The Animals, which will be narrated by Miss Jason.

The evening will take a decidedly nautical turn, when Actually Gay Men’s Chorus (AGMC) lift the anchor and join LGSO to Sail The Oceans Blue with highlights from Gilbert and Sullivan’s ever popular H.M.S. Pinafore.

This is the first time that there has been a classical collaboration between LGSO and AGMC and everyone involved is very excited at the prospect.

AGMC Chairman Bill Kelly, said: “We wanted to put on a performance featuring well-loved music that has a real sense of fun, that would appeal to individuals, families and music lovers of all ages.”

Joining the Chorus and orchestra on stage during the evening will be acclaimed guest soloists performing favorite classics from Puccini, Albinoni, Wagner and Lutoslawski as well as well as popular Chorus numbers.

One of the highlights of the concert will be the Poulenc Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra. A beautiful work which combines drama, lightness and humour, with a madcap finale. The concerto will be performed by international concert pianists, Coady Green and Christopher Wayne Smith.
