This September, Marlborough Productions celebrates 15 years of creating and supporting boundary-pushing, cutting-edge queer performance, parties, heritage and radical gatherings. A catalyst for queer culture and community, Marlborough Productions has worked alongside writers, performers, activists, changemakers and more, including Juno Dawson, Travis Alabanza, Harry Clayton-Wright, David Hoyle and Thick & Tight.

Launching a brand-new website that centres and celebrates their pioneering work, Marlborough Productions looks forward to the next 15 years. Granted three years of NPO funding from 2023 – 2026, Marlborough Productions continues its flagship projects New Queers on the Block, Brownton Abbey, Queer Heritage South, Radical Rhizomes, The Coast is Queer, and Producer Gathering, as well as providing funding and support to independent artists to bring their work to the stage.

Co-creative directors and joint CEOs David Sheppeard and Tarik Elmoutawakil said: “Marlborough Productions has always been about creating a space of belonging, joy and community around queer culture and after 15 years this impulse feels more vital than ever.

“Along the way, we’ve gotten to work with so many incredible artists who’ve literally changed the way we see the world. We’re particularly proud of supporting artists at the start of their journeys  who have gone on to do some incredible things. In these tough times, we want to emphasise the huge importance of early investment in queer artists. Without it, the loss to our  culture is beyond measure.

“Marlborough Productions is not a building any more but we’re just as committed to making space for radical ideas, new experiences and warm welcomes. If you haven’t been to a Marlborough Productions event yet, don’t let it take you another 15 years! There’s a spot waiting for you.”
