Daniel Craig‘s new movie Queer, which sees the James Bond actor play an expat who try to numb his pain with drink, drugs, and casual sex, is to be released in UK cinemas on December 13.

Directed by Luca Guadagnino, the film sees Craig meet and then become obsessed with a younger ex-serviceman, played by Drew Starkey, who recently said that while he and the former 007 actor had “fun” while shooting sex scenes for the film, he was “nervous” sharing the screen with Craig.

At the New York Film Festival premiere of Queer, Starkey told reporters he was nervous for “every” scene in the film.

“All of them, every one,” Starkey said. “I think we were both nervous. We wanted to tell those stories.”

Craig recently explained how he came to be involved in the film, recalling that he and the director go back a long way.

Queer

“We [Guadagnino and I] met 20 years ago and said, ‘Hey, we want to work together,’ and we finally did,” he said.

“If I wasn’t in this movie and I saw this movie, I’d want to be in it. It’s the kind of film I want to see [and] make – I want it to be out there.”

The film, which is based on a short novel by William S. Burroughs, has plenty of reviews already from its festival screenings, and the common consensus is that both Craig and Starkey give outstanding performances.
