The 15 LGBTQ+ films shortlisted for the prestigious Iris Prize Best British Shorts are now available to stream free on All 4.
2021 marks the second year of a three-year sponsorship agreement between Film 4 and Iris. Last year the All 4 streaming of 2020’s best short films attracted an audience of half-a-million on All 4 and another half-million in the last 12 months.
This year’s films range from the dark depths of drug addiction and workplace bullying, to the tender joys of first love and the release of your inner Drag King. The selection includes Baba – recently reviewed in Scene – which won both the Festival’s top prizes at its Cardiff-based event in October.
Hove-based Tim Highsted, Senior Editor, Acquired Feature Films for Film 4, and chairman of the judges, told me:” our partnership with the Iris Festival continues to showcase the sheer diversity of talent we have in UK film-making, and its success on All 4 shows there’s an audience wanting to watch unique stories from new talent”.
Berwyn Rowlands, Festival Director, said: “ this a gift that has kept giving. Never in a million years did I ever think we would reach so many people, introducing an audience to new and exciting LGBTQ+ stories”.
The films can be seen on over 20 platforms including All4.com Look out for my review of all 15 in Scene in the New Year.
