As part of the events to commemorate World AIDS Day on Thursday, December 1, Brighton & Hove’s LGBTQ+ choirs invite you to join them and the local community for a concert that is being staged to raise funds for local HIV charity Lunch Positive.
As a day of remembrance, World AIDS Day commemorates the lives impacted by HIV-related illnesses and AIDS, and events like these serve to connect to those affected and to raise awareness of HIV, to educate, and to fight stigma and discrimination.
The World AIDS Day concert continues that theme of recognition and remembrance in an emotional mix of uplifting energy and reflective musical moments. Bringing together the Actually Gay Men’s Chorus, Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus, Qukulele, Rainbow Chorus, Rebelles and Resound for an evening of sound and music in St Mary’s Church, Kemptown, it is always a sell-out and raises thousands of pounds each year for Lunch Positive.

Gary Pargeter, from Lunch Positive, said: “Lunch Positive is all about involving people with HIV to support one another, based on strong values of empathy, supportiveness and sharing common experiences of being HIV positive.
“We know that the loss of our friends, families and lovers is something that is felt throughout the year and not only on World AIDS Day. We remember those close to us that have died through HIV, our members and volunteers and those that are left behind.
“We send all our thoughts and support to everyone living with HIV and everyone who has lost someone to HIV. We stand firmly with you in empathy, solidarity and hope.”
