Tomorrow, Queer Bloomsbury Day will see a host of exciting queer events including a talk by bestselling author Juno Dawson. As organised by Queer in Brighton – a project celebrating and promoting the “rich cultural life” of the LGBTQ+ community, otherwise known as Queer Heritage South – tickets are pay-as-you-like and attendees can go to as few or as many shows as they wish.
The line-up includes Juno Dawson’s Lovely Literary Trans Salon at 4 pm, where the author will be joined by writer, presenter and cabaret comedian Shon Faye to discuss her new book: The Transgender Issue. Following the talk, an Erotic Drawings Cabaret will take place 6 pm, in which four queer artists – Harry Clayton-Wright, Neil Bartlett, Tanaka Mhishi and Kuchenga – will respond to a stash of over 400 hundred erotic drawings by Duncan Grant that were gifted to Charleston in 2020.
The Pecs Drag Kings will then be performing at 8 pm, where attendees can expect to see “slick dance routines, sexy lip-syncs and raucous comedy”.
The event will be held in Charleston Farmhouse, East Sussex. For those wishing to stay the full day, a free yellow shuttle bus will pick attendees up from the Brighton Royal Pavillion at 2.50 pm to travel to Charleston, and will also be providing return transportation at 9.30 pm.
