The Metropolitan Police Service are appealing for information following a homophobic, double stabbing outside LGBTQ+ venue the Two Brewers at Clapham High Street, London on Sunday, August 13, 2023.
London’s Metropolitan Police are investigating after two men, aged in their 20s and 30s, were stabbed outside the Two Brewers in Clapham High Street on Sunday evening in what is being treated as a homophobic attack in southwest London.

The Two Brewers in Clapham retains its title of Best LGTB+ Pub for the second year running at the Great British Pub Awards, a national competition to recognise the best pubs in the country.
The Two Brewers, Clapham’s iconic LGBT+ and multi award-winning pub, is crowned ‘Best LGBT+ Pub’ in Britain in the John Smith’s Great British Pub Awards. General Manager, Jimmy Smith, received the coveted trophy at a glittering awards ceremony, which took place in London on September 6.
For well over thirty-five years The Two Brewers has employed a simple formula of cabaret in one room and dancing in the other, giving credence to the phrase ‘if it ain’t broke, then don’t fix it’, but once a year the Two Brewers literally throws open its doors and the party goes outside onto the streets of Clapham.
The Two Brewers in Clapham and Mary’s in Cardiff have both made it through to the final of a national competition to recognise the Best LGTB+ Pub in the country. Both are owned by Stonegate Pub Company, the UK’s largest LGBT+ venue operator. With only four shortlisted pubs in the running this year, both stand a good chance of stealing the crown.
Some of the biggest acts in the business come together for A Spectacular Night for Michael Topping at the Two Brewers on Thursday, November 9. The star-studded celebration of 50 years of outrageous cabaret genius from the man who amongst others was the Malitza to Dave Lynn and Topping to Butch will be hosted by Dave Lynn, Joe Simmons (Topping & Butch) and Son of a Tutu.
Jimmy Smith the boss of two Brewers in Clapham has received two of the highest community accolades in recognition of 25 years supporting the LGBT+ communities in London and Brighton and is up for a 2017 award hat trick adding Great British Best Managed Pub to the honours.
