Stonewall, the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans equality charity, has launched its first Young Writers’ competition for budding authors between the ages of 14 and 17. The competition invites young people to submit short stories and poems that support the theme of ‘LGBT equality: changing hearts and minds’. Judges include best-selling author S J Watson, poet Dean Atta and Stonewall CEO, Ruth Hunt.
Stonewall, the LGB equality charity, has published a landmark report today explaining how in the future the organisation will extend its remit to campaign for trans equality. The historic move follows extensive consultation with over 700 trans people and will see the charity use its platform and experience to help create real change for them.
Stonewall marks LGBT History Month this year by working with schools, local authorities, celebrities and workplaces and inviting people to share their defining moments in LGBT history. The equality charity will share stories from LGBT Voices, its guide celebrating older LGBT people, and look back on its journey on the Stonewall25 website.
