The concert, organised to celebrate David Raven’s (aka Maisie Trollette) 90th Birthday, at the Brighton Dome on Sunday, July 23 raised £5,000 for the Brighton Rainbow Fund to distribute to local LGBTQ+ and HIV organisations as grants.
Birmingham’s Eden Bar will be hosting a screening of MAISIE: Britain’s Oldest Performing Drag Queen on Sunday, May 13 at 3.30pm. MAISIE the documentary follows David Raven who has worked for 50 years as a drag queen, Maisie Trollette.
Darcelle was crowned the world’s oldest working drag performer in 2016 by the Guinness Book of World Records. The performer’s death from natural causes was announced on Facebook by the club she ran in Portland, Oregon, that was named after her drag persona.
The Brighton Rainbow Fund is inviting everyone to join in the celebrations to mark a milestone birthday of a remarkable man and his remarkable career, and to raise funds to distribute as grants to local LGBTQ+ and HIV projects.
