Latest TV, the UK-based TV channel continues their equalities and diversity mission with the creation of the UK’s first ever LGBT+ TV terrestrial channel! Broadcasting from February 2017, Latest LGBT+ TV will bring the best in LGBT news and entertainment to viewers’ TV screens on Freeview Channel 7 and Virgin Media 159 in the Greater Brighton area, as well as online globally.
Community groups from across Brighton and Hove receive a further boost thanks to the Pride Social Impact Fund. From Whitehawk in the east to Portslade in the west, a record number of groups and organisations across the city have been awarded a slice of more than £8,000. The hope is they will use the money to bring a rainbow of happiness to their communities – in much the same way Pride does for more than 162,000 people in August.
For one weekend every year, the city is taken over by a sea of rainbows. From the parade watched by tens of thousands through to the festival in Preston Park to the street party in St James’ Street, the whole city comes together to mark the LGBT celebration that is Brighton Pride, the largest annual event in the city’s calendar.
The latest QTube Brighton Pride special will be broadcast on Thursday August 18 at 9pm and Saturday August 20 at 11pm on Latest TV Channel 7. Jonesy and Sophie take a look at Brighton Pride 2016 from the parade through the city to events in the park where they visit the Girls Dance Tent, Trans Tent, Wild Fruit Tent, reflect upon Orlando, check out the Cabaret Tent, Peter Tatchell, The Rainbow Fund and report on Doggy Pride which took place earlier in the month.
Latest TV the local community TV channel have appointed trans activist, Sophie Cook as an on-screen Newscaster and Head of Diversity at the Brighton based TV station.
Latest TV, Brighton’s local television station is moving up the TV listings. TV basses at the channel have confirmed that from April 5, Latest TV will move from freeview channel 8 to freeview channel 7.
After four years in planning, Latest TV started broadcasting last night. The new 24 hour community channel broadcasts on Freeview Channel 8 and Virgin 159 and promises to feature the very best of what’s on in Brighton & Hove, Adur and Worthing.
