Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland, is to make a statement of apology to people convicted in the past under Scotlandâs historical discriminatory âhomosexual offencesâ laws. The apology will be made in the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday November 7, to coincide with the publication of a bill to give a pardon for such convictions.

A new guide to same-sex marriage and civil partnership in Scotland has been launched to highlight the start of Scotlandâs equal marriage law. 10,000 copies of the guide have been published by the Equality Network, Scotlandâs national lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) equality charity, to explain to same-sex couples how they can register a marriage or civil partnership in Scotland, and to inform LGBTI people about their rights and responsibilities under the new law.
