Gritter Garbo, Melton John, Alexander the Grit, Warren the Great and the Brighton Belle are ready and waiting to hit the city’s roads this winter. The aptly named council gritting machines are already on high alert to tackle any freezing conditions that may sweep across Brighton & Hove during the coming months.
Gardeners, rangers and parks volunteers gear up for this year’s Love Parks Week from July 14 to 23. An exciting range of events is being planned to encourage residents of all ages to make the most of their local parks and open spaces and get involved with volunteering.
There are two ‘introduction to volunteering’ days over the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May for residents interested in volunteering in the city’s parks and open spaces. The events, will include meeting park rangers, walking around the site and discussing ideas about what volunteers could do.
Hundreds of new communal refuse bins will be rolled out in Brighton & Hove over the next few weeks, replacing those which have been badly damaged or broken. The 330 bins were ordered after an audit last year which revealed that just under half of the 600-strong stock were ready for replacement.
