The Rainbow Chorus winter concert was postponed at the eleventh hour on December 15 due to water damage at St George Church which rendered the building unsafe.
The Rainbow Chorus Christmas concert tonight at St Georges Church in Kemptown has been cancelled at the last minute due to the church being flooded.
When you attend a Rainbow Chorus concert, you look forward to taking away the memory of an evening of excellent music and singing, but this special 21st anniversary celebration was a completely different matter and offered much more.
This evening, the Rainbow Chorus presents 21— a sumptuous summer’s evening feast of songs, part of the choirs 21st anniversary celebrations. Featuring stirring classics, foot-stomping boogie beats and beautiful, wistful pieces, this multi-faceted concert will show the full range of the Rainbow Chorus’ repertoire and musical abilities, led as always by their inspirational musical director Aneesa Chaudhry and accompanied by Mojca Monti Amali.
Aneesa Chaudhry, a British Asian woman is passionate about the voice and how we can use it to make a positive difference in the world. She trained as a Barrister, professional singer and vocal coach and is on a mission to do what she loves doing – that is empowering and encouraging people to use their voices to make a positive difference to the world.
Nothing marks the start of the Christmas season proper as clearly as a festive concert, and the Rainbow Chorus certainly declared the season well and truly open on Saturday night (December 9).
I have to remind myself that this diverse and inclusive singing group is an amateur non – audition choir where some members can’t read music. That makes their latest concert all the more remarkable because they opened the event with a beautiful and sensitive rendition of the phenomenally tricky Faure Requiem.
For one night only on Saturday, July 15 the Rainbow Chorus presents Classics to Classical featuring a spectrum of music from Faure to Freddie Mercury. This unique production will showcase the wide range of talent in this increasingly diverse choir with something for everyone to enjoy.
If you thought a night with the Rainbow Chorus couldn’t get any better, then stand by for a departure from their usual concert format. For one night only on May 13 they will roll out an evening of songs from the familiar, the not so familiar, to the downright quirky as the marvellous, beautiful sounding and often hilarious Yorkshire based, lesbian a cappella singing group, The Deep C Divas, join in the fun.
