Cllr Jason Kitcat, convenor of the Brighton and Hove Green Party explains why Pride Matters to him.
“We are proud that Brighton & Hove is such an incredibly diverse and open-minded place. Pride is a testament to that spirit of freedom burning strong in the heart of the city. So many come to live, work, study and visit our city because it’s a place where you feel free to be who you really want to be, feel free to be true to who you are. But we must always be restless in keeping that spirit burning in new generations of visitors and residents.
“What isn’t so obvious is the daily work by so many in the city to keep the spirit of diversity, acceptance and freedom burning strong. Pride is the annual beacon to this work. It’s essential we keep going and never give up as the spirit of Pride will always be needed in our city and as an inspiration to others around the world still struggling for their own freedom to live.”
