I walk out of my front door with not a care. I am a known homo in lots of my life. It never scares me. I live in Brighton and work in London, Manchester, Edinburgh…….all over the UK. I am free to live.

But in 76 states in the world we are not free to live. This is not even about love or sex. It’s about going to the shops to get milk and being safe. It’s about meeting your friends and feeling safe. It’s about reading any book that I want without the police using it as evidence.

It’s about the everyday moments of everyday life. It’s about the everyday freedoms that, as individuals, we take for granted. The freedom to live free of threats, violence and harassment are basic human rights. Every time you buy milk…. shout it out. I have the freedom to live, I want others in the world to have it too.

To fight for that freedom is something to have PRIDE in.

Support Pride for a reason!

Support Kaleidoscope and support those abroad to have the freedom to live.

Simon Fanshawe OBE is a journalist & Broadcaster works to create effective change in organisations and in the world. He is also a founding trustee of the The Kaleidoscope Trust, that campaigns so that others may have the same freedom to live !
