Pride has a very special meaning to so many people! For me it’s a time when the entire community comes together and everyone stands together for equality and diversity. A time where we all embrace what makes our community so colourful!

It is also a time for us to remember and honour all our fellow brothers and sisters that have over the years fought so hard to have the freedom so many of us enjoy today. I have been very fortunate to have the support of so many friends and my family over the years, sadly there are also so many of us that have not had that support but at pride everyone feels a part of something.

This is something that we should all take forward on a daily basis and not just show this camaraderie at pride. I am proud to be part of the LGBT community and the colourful umbrella it forms. Winning Miss TransLiving International was a great honour and I am really proud to be an ambassador for the Trans community. I do not believe in moulds or stereotypes. I think that it takes far more courage to be an individual than from part of some idea that society has. For me strength is something that is measured in ones courage to stand up for what you believe in and face your critics. Pride symbolises this as the attitude of so many is “this is me and I am proud of who I am.”

Pride and winning Miss TransLiving International has also allowed me to work very closely with a local business in the city Nice ‘n’ Naughty. Their support and the support of Brighton & Hove City Council has been fantastic and proves that so many businesses fully support the LGBT community.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a fantastic Pride!! Have a fantastic time!!

Philip Price, manager at Nice ‘n’ Naughty on St James Street in Brighton added: “I am so proud of Dee on her crowning of Miss TransLiving International 2014, and a most deserving title.

“As a company Nice ‘n’ Naughty have been at the forefront of changing the boundaries of what an adult store should be, and has always had an all-inclusive view on our customers. I like to think the Brighton store reflects the diversity of the city, and all its residents. Over the years, we have built on our range of products, and in recent months extended our range of items designed for the trans community, for both T-Girls and Boys, and it is something that I am striving to improve on. To be able to show my support in sponsoring Dee throughout her ceremonial year is an honour for both myself and Nice ‘n’ Naughty. Congratulations to a worthy winner.”
