Following the official launch event of the Brighton Half Marathon, 2014 less than a month ago the organisers have announced that places for the 2014 race have hit the half way mark, with more than 5,500 places snapped up already.
The Brighton Half Marathon 2014 takes place on Sunday, February 16. 2014 and a total of 11,000 places are available.
Event Manager Paul Bond said:
“We are pleased to announce that the Brighton Half Marathon is going stronger than ever, with more than half of the places for the 2014 race sold. Considering that the race doesn’t take place until February 2014 this is a huge sign of how popular the race has become with runners not wanting to miss out on a place in this iconic race.
“The Brighton Half Marathon attracts local club runners as well as beginners and seasoned runners from all over the UK, and Brighton is the perfect place for friends and families to come and cheer on their loved ones whilst enjoying a weekend by the seaside. We expect to sell out by July and we urge anyone who wants to be part of the Brighton Half Marathon 2014 to sign up as soon as possible to secure their place.”
The general public entry fee is £30 for affiliated runners and £32 for non-affiliated runners, including a goody bag and a medal at the finish.
The Brighton Half Marathon is organised by and the main fundraiser for Brighton based charity The Sussex Beacon, a unique centre providing innovative services to meet the changing needs of people living with HIV.
Runners can also choose to be part of Team Beacon and help raise funds for The Sussex Beacon, or they can run for one of the other official charities which include WaterAid and Rise.
