Lunch Positive supports Brighton Pride

Besi Besemar August 1, 2013

Lunch Positive

Lunch Positive, the HIV charity which provides a weekly lunch club and social space for positive people is staging a community café as part of this year’s Pride.

The café is being run entirely by volunteers, and will be serving a range of hot dishes, cakes, tea & coffee, juices and chilled water. Hot food (with generous portions!) is all priced at £5, teas, coffees, cakes and water all at £1, and juice at 50p.

There’s a seating area provided, and volunteers will also be on hand to help people who have mobility needs to get served quickly.

All proceeds from the café will go directly to running the charity and supporting people with HIV.

This is the charity’s largest community event  & main fundraiser, and this year all 25 volunteers will give over 200 hours in total preparing for and staging the event.

Gary Pargeter, volunteer Project Manager, said:

“We hope this year’s café will be our most successful ever – and that the community will support us by coming to us for your food and drinks on the day. The amount of goodwill in putting together the café has been amazing, volunteers and lunch club members have been working hard for weeks to make it a success. Pride have supported us with a marquee and infrastructure, and we’ve received donations of stock from Greggs North Street and  Co-op on St James’ Street. Brighton & Hove City Council Pride Grants have helped fund van hire for the day. If you’re going to Preston Park on Pride Saturday – please come and see us!”
