“We’re your weather girls and have we got news for you!”

Brighton Pride will be raining men this August when Martha Wash performs on the main stage on Saturday, August 2.

Martha, the original Weather Girl, provided backing vocals alongside Izora Armstead as Two Tons O’ Fun for Sylvester’s You Make Me Feel Mighty Real, delivered house anthems including her own Carry On & Give It To You, C&C Music Factory’s Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) and Blackbox’s Everybody Everybody. She is presently enjoying critical acclaim with her latest album Something Good.

No dancefloor is ever complete without The Weather Girl’s 1982 single It’s Raining Men. A firm disco classic, It’s Raining Men hit the headlines again in January this year in response to a social media campaign against UKIP councillor David Silvester’s remarks that Britain’s floods were a punishment for its gay marriage laws. It charted at number 21 in the National Charts. As The Weather Girls sang, hallelujah!
