The Belle

You would have thought that with the Brighton Marina being right on the door step, someone would have thought about offering Rainbow Cruises before. Well they haven’t, not until now that is.

Brighton Sea Cruises ran their first Rainbow Cruise last month. There is no better way to see the city than from the sea. I have lived in Brighton for 30 years and have never seen the seafront from the ocean. On a clear day the views are quite simply stunning.

The Belle carries up to 60 passengers and is fully licenced under MCA regulations with refreshment and entertainment available on board on selected trips or by special request.

You will find The Belle moored by pontoon 4 or 6 in Brighton Marina next to the Wetherspoon Bar, The West Quay.

Cruises run daily along the seafront:

• On Mondays by prior arrangement

• Tuesdays to Thursdays from 3pm with evenings by prior arrangement

• Fridays and Saturday at 11am, 1.30pm, 4pm and 6.30pm for private hire

• Sunday at 11am, 1.30pm and 4pm with evenings by arrangement

Trips take one and a half hours and you cruise along the seafront between the piers and back again to the Marina taking in close views of the Brighton Wheel, the nude beach and of course both Piers. Adults cost £10, children under 14 £6 and students £8 (with SU card).

Private hires are a reasonable £275 for one hour, £380 for one and a half hours, £500 for two hours, £600 for three hours and £700 for four hours. (off peak discounts are available). These rentals are ideal for a private birthday parties, staff team building sessions, a fishing trip or a civil partnership celebration with a difference.

There is a small bar on the boat manned by the lovely Bunty and catering arrangement can be organised by telephoning 08000935 191 or 0794 2491 654

Bunty and Chris

Chris Sweeting left his job working as a ‘trolley dolly’ for Air New Zealand to invest in this new venture. He wants to develop the ‘gay cruises’ idea but as I said to him every cruise is a gay cruise in Brighton.

Special events include comedy nights on board which have proved to be very successful. If you don’t find the comic funny you can relax on the top deck and take in the sea air.
