Community activist supports youth project at her birthday party

Maria Baker will be celebrating her birthday on Friday, June 12 at Envy above Charles Street Bar.

She is inviting friends old and new to celebrate it with her and asks them to donate to the  BluePrint 22 youth project, who she is the Patron of, rather than bring her a present.

Blueprint 22 is a youth organisation working with young people aged 16-25 living in Brighton and along the coast to Bognor Regis. and gives young people the opportunity to shine by participating in projects that encourage them to take control of their lives.

Miller is just 17 and was homeless. Listen to what he has to say about how Blueprint 22 helped him:

Maria Baker is the Black and Ethnic Minorities representative on the committee of the Brighton and Hove, LGBT Community Safety Forum and also sits on the grants committee of the Rainbow Fund.

She is the former owner of the much missed Marilyns Bar in Providence Place and the Star Inn, on Manchester Street, both in Brighton.

Maria said: “Blueprint 22 do such wonderful work with young people, building their self-esteem and eventually giving them the confidence to move on with their lives.”
