Love her or Hate her: Sonia Marmite

The Karaoke Zone during the Pride Village Street Party this weekend will be located outside Poison Ivy on St James’s Street.

Sonia Marmite will be hosting the proceedings on Saturday evening from 4pm and on Sunday from 2pm.

Sonia rose to prominence when she came last in the Brighton heat of Drag Idol at Charles Street.

Her website reads: “Sonia is like Marmite, You’ll love her or Hate Her”.

Sonia said: “If you want to sing a bit of Whitney or Britney the place to be is at the bottom of St James’s Street.

“I have had two outfits specially made for the Village Street Party so please come along, check me out and listen to my funny jokes.

“Drag Idol launched my career and I am the only one of the Brighton contestants still working today.

“That’s show business!”

Entry to the street party is by Pledgeband only, costing £5 for 2 days with £1 guaranteed going to the Rainbow Fund who give grants of up to £5,000 to LGBT/HIV organisations providing effective front line services to the LGBT Communities in Brighton and Hove.

Organisers recommend that you purchase your Pledgeband in advance to avoid queues on the day.

Pledgebands will be required for entry to the secure zone (see map below) during village party hours and to purchase alcohol in venues and outlets on Saturday, August 2, 4 p.m. – 12.30 a.m. and Sunday, August 3, 2 p.m. – 8 p.m.

No alcohol can be brought into the secure zone during Village Party hours.
