Armed Forces Week Flag Raising Ceremony

A flag raising ceremony to mark the start of Armed Forces Week will be held at the Old Steine War Memorial in Brighton at 11am on Monday June 19

The mayor of Brighton & Hove, Councillor Mo Marsh, Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex, Peter Field, and High Sheriff of East Sussex, Maureen Chowen, will join forces veterans and cadets at the event.

Other events taking place in Brighton & Hove during Armed Forces Week include:


Armed Forces Day Act of Remembrance
Saturday June 24 at 2pm

War Memorial, Old Steine, Brighton
The event is organised by the Royal British Legion and the Mayor will be attending.


Armed Forces Day event
Sunday June 25 from 10.30am to 4pm

Blind Veterans UK, Greenways, Ovingdean, Brighton BN2 7BS

Blind Veterans UK (formerly St Dunstan’s) are bringing together service charities and organisations in the area to showcase their community work.

This free family event will feature a variety of stalls, activities and entertainment, including the Princess of Wales Royal military band, a dance display, fashion show, and military and classic vehicles.

The Mayor and the Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex will be attending.

Community history event marking the Somme centenary and exploring Brighton & Hove in WW1. The free event is the culmination of two local history projects, the Orange Lilies and the Boys on the Plaque projects.

Commemoration of the Battle of Boar’s Head
