New high point in accessibility for Brighton Pride 2014

Besi Besemar July 24, 2014

Brighton & Hove LGBT Community Safety Forum will deliver the most accessible Pride Festival ever through their Accessibility Matters Project this year.

Pride accessibility toilets

Brighton Pride and the LGBT Community Safety Forum have managed to procure not only the usual accessible portable toilets (portaloos) but for the very first time, there will be a fully accessible toilet with a powered hoist on site on Preston Park.

The High Dependency Mobile Disabled Portable Toilet Unit is designed to be both luxurious and easy to use for both the carer and the disabled person. It is endorsed by The Changing Places Consortium/MENCAP.

The H.D.U unit incorporates many facilities for the disabled including a fully automatic tracking hoist, height-adjustable changing couch, support hand rails for ease of movement, and emergency call alarm.

There is more than adequate space in the changing area for the disabled person and up to two carers. A centrally placed toilet with room either side for the carers, and a curtain to allow the disabled person and carer some privacy.

The LGBT Community Safety Forum is delighted to have this unique facility localed at the Access Tent during Brighton and Hove Pride 2014.
