Paul Charlton, Chairman of Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus said: “We are humbled for your continued support. We really pulled out all the stops this year to deliver a new entertaining show on such a sumptuous stage. We wanted to support Rainbow Fund again this year, knowing that every penny raised will be awarded to a local deserving LGBT and HIV/AIDS organisation.”

Chris Gull, chair of the Rainbow Fund, said: “During the coming year many smaller groups could lose their funding as national cuts filter down to local organisations. The Rainbow Fund will prioritise these smaller organisations during the next 12 months and make sure they are treated fairly enabling them to continue delivering their services to LGBT people in the city.”

Brighton Gay Men’s chorus will be celebrating their 10th anniversary in 2015 with several planned performances, commencing with their next show Back to the Bond Age which will take place as part of the Brighton Fringe Festival on May 1 and 2 at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Ann Street, Brighton.

Bingo Bears raise money for Rainbow Fund

Brighton Bear Weekender held their first ever Bingo Bears night at Brighton’s A Bar on Sunday, February 15, hosted by the ever-lovely Mysterry.

Bingo Bears

A bijou but enthusiastic audience enjoyed a dazzling set of tunes from Mysterry, interspersed with two nail-biting rounds of bingo.

A succession of balls filled the hostess’s gulley as she called the numbers … “69, dinner for two” … “88, two fat bears” … until at last the winners called “Bingo!” and rose to claim their prizes; a bottle of champagne, a box of chocolates, lunch at A Bar, and two hours of house cleaning kindly donated by Bang Tidy Cleaning Services of Brighton.

The evening raised a delightful £119.77 for the Rainbow Fund, who give grants to LGBT organisations and groups in Brighton and Hove providing effective front line services to the LGBT community in the city.

Brighton Bear Weekender organisers send their thanks to Mysterry for her time and talent, the players for going along and supporting a great cause and the A Bar for their hospitality and kind donation.

Eyes down, and keep ‘em peeled for the next one!

WHILE some models prefer the more ‘erotic’ portrait for a private collection in their library, others want something more subtle – ideal for pride of place on their wall in their living room or bedroom. Marco aims to achieve the best likeness possible by capturing physique, muscle and skin tone, creating the real you, unmasked and to your comfort level.

He said: “It was November 2013, I was sat in a coffee shop poised with my pad and pencil awaiting inspiration. Across the room I noticed and became transfixed on the side profile of a Middle Eastern gentleman, my pencil started to scroll across the paper and to my surprise, a profile likeness emerged. It was far removed from my usual caricature study.

“Thanks to some willing subjects sending me their selfies and poses along with perseverance on my part, male portrait art has become my newfound niche.

“I look forward to hearing from you and creating your art.”
